O’Connor Prototype Basketball Hoop
My favorite leisure activity is to play sports. Sports have been a huge part of my life since I was a young
child, and I have played many of them. My whole life I have been playing baseball very competitively,
and it has become very serious to me. While it is a great amount of fun for me, I take it very seriously
and I do not accept failure easily. That has opened the door for other sports to become more casual fun
for me. The sport that has recently taken most of my attention is basketball. My friends and I play a few
days a week at school and at home I play weekly. I chose to do a basketball hoop for my CAD project
because it shows a small part of me, my hugest interest, sports. Basketball is my current sport of choice
to play, so I decided that it would be fun to make a hoop model for my project. The hardest part was
making some of the curved parts and calculating the measurements, proportions, and ratios so that
each part would line up when put together. It has many parts that all need to match up in order for the
hoop to assemble. Through this project, my skills working with the SolidWorks CAD software have
improved immensely and I had a lot of fun doing it because I was creating something that was
