My Official role in the group:
My official role in the group was group member. I was responsible for developing my
section of the outline and power point and getting it to the group leader and co-leader.
My unofficial role in the group:
My unofficial role in the group was to gather the group outline into a power point,
and to develop the outline for the introduction to the chapter. At first, this duty was of the
leader, but I volunteered for this role when our group leader did not live up to her duties.
Positive attributes of the group:
A very positive attribute of our group was the willingness to do whatever it takes
to receive a high grade on the project. We were all willing to take control of our part of
the project and even help each other with their parts of the project. We also all seemed
understanding of the work and class schedule of others in the group and were able to
work around this. When our group leader did not fit the standards we all viewed
necessary for the group to succeed we distributed her work amongst ourselves and our
co-leader stepped up to the plate as leader.
Negative attributes of the group:
One of our group members, our group leader, did not contact us or complete her
part in the group project, or her role as leader. This was the only flaw I saw in our group;
however our group kindly understood and wasted no time in making up for the loss of a
member.
What I learned about group dynamics:
I learned that group projects don’t necessarily mean spending extreme amounts of
time meeting to work on a project, it could also mean that we work together but

separately, which is what our group did in this case. Even though we had to decide on a
group leader and group co-leader, we all seemed to lead and help in each of our own area
of “expertise”. For instance, when one of us had never used power point before, another
stepped in to explain and help. We all were leaders within our group in one little way or
another.
One thing could have been done better:
One thing is that it would have been nice to hear from our original group leader,
at least an e-mail saying she would not be able to complete the role as group leader.
However, we received no notification as to where she had disappeared to and were
therefore left wondering. But again, our group co-leader stepped up, and group project
turned out fine in the end.
I would work with this group again:
I would work with this group again because we had virtually no problems
working together. We all did our part, with the exception of our former group-leader, and
yet we did not have to meet outside of the classroom. We communicated well through our
meetings and e-mail and were to the point on updates of the project during our meetings.
New health information and presentation skills I learned as a result of participating
in this group activity:
I learned new statistics of exercise for health and fitness for all types of
Americans. I also learned the different kinds of exercises and their benefits, and the how
much and of what kind of exercise the body needs to be healthy. One type is aerobic and
another anaerobic exercise, exercises that raise the heartbeat. I also learned when
teaching this type of information it is important to grab the most important information to

show the audience the messages you are trying to get across, because there is so much
information it is important to stress the most important aspects of it.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (1=awful group, 10=awesome group), I would rate my group a:
9
My Final Thoughts:
I’m not asking for another project nor did I really want to do this project, however
I would not mind doing another project in this form. This project by itself might have
been hard, but within a well working group the project became less stressful and easier to
soak in the actual information.
