DAY 8. NATALIE’S UPTOWN DESIGNER STORES IN THE EVENING Bergdorf Goodman is a luxury goods department store based on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. The company was founded in 1899 by Herman Bergdorf and was later owned and managed by Edwin Goodman, and later his son Andrew Goodman. Today, Bergdorf operates from two stores situated across the street from each other at Fifth Avenue between 57th and 58th Streets. Bergdorf Goodman's main store, which opened at its current location in 1928, is located on the west side of Fifth Avenue. A separate men's store, established in 1990, is located on the east side of Fifth Avenue, directly across the street. Bergdorf is a subsidiary of Neiman Marcus, which is owned by the private equity firms TPG Capital and Warburg Pincus. The new Polo Ralph Lauren Mansion (opened 10/10/10) Natalie visited the mansion on Madison Avenue and somehow managed to photograph on all levels without being evicted. The new Polo Ralph Lauren, just steps from the newly renovated men's Rhinelander Mansion, is retail luxury at its finest and covers 22,000 square foot. Long, winding marble staircases connect four floors of clothing, accessories, home goods and the company's new lingerie line, with all of it set between plush white armchairs and other furniture worthy of plopping in after a long, tiring day of shopping. Propped on shelves and leaning against tables with their hair loosely pulled back, even the mannequins look like gorgeous, classy women—possibly because they all have an odd resemblance to Caroline Trentini. The VM hard at work. What a wonderful store to work in. Giorgio Armani Fendi Gant Gap In NYC you will find a Gap store about every 15 - 20 blocks. Most of their stores are spread over 3 levels like other brands like Club Monaco, Anthropology and banana republic. They provide a one stop shopping experience where you can buy books, underwear, bags, jewellery, clothes and gifts. These VM’s were applying vinyl decals to the windows close to midnight. H&M Kenneth Cole NBA STORE 5TH AVENUE SAKS 5TH AVENUE Saks have 27 windows around their store and in these photos you will see that one street had windows dedicated to Breast Cancer awareness that were all pink. The windows across the front of store were divided into two looks: 1. Set up like someone's home. This trend has been seen in other windows. It is as if we are invited into a home. Standing in the entrance was of the home, with art work, candle sticks, lamps as props. Also the table displays were done in that casual, 'just taken off' manner. 2. The other side was quite stark and the props were designer furniture. The other windows were propped with interesting architectural shaped objects to offset the clothes and product.
