In Context – In Citizen Kane, a reporter named Thompson is
trying to get an angle on the story of Kane’s death. He first tries
to interview Kane’s estranged wife, who is comely to look at, but
whose voice is not pleasing.
In Context – We get hints of Kane’s decadence through
the eyes of people who knew him. One example of his
moral decay is his reckless spending on luxuries he
doesn’t even enjoy.
