The continent of Africa has 53 countries on it. Africa has more countries than any other continent. The Pacific Islands, including Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, are not part of any continent. Number of Countries Continents and Countries The continent of Antarctica has no countries on it. Many countries have science stations on Antarctica, but no country owns the land. 9 Continents and People Different groups of people live on continents. They live in different countries on the continents. People living in different countries speak different languages. Some continents have more people than other continents. The countries on a continent that are near the Equator have a hot climate all year round. The countries on a continent that are far from the Equator have a cold climate all year round. Some parts of continents get a lot of rain. Some parts of continents get little rain. 12 Parts of Australia are hot and dry. 13 Antarctica is always covered in ice. Most continents have cold weather in winter and hot weather in summer. Antarctica is a very cold continent. It is covered in ice and snow in winter and in summer.
