ALWAYS FREE ` VOLUME V ISSUE 2 NJ THESPIANS Once Again, the Excitement of the New Year! Right now, the new year is doubly exciting for me for I have been given the opportunity to lead our state for one more year (some of you may remember we thought my term was up in 2012; nope! I get one more shot at leading this incredible group!). And once again, our new school year brings the excitement of the freshmen who have never experienced the State Festival; the determination of the seniors who are gearing up for their “last shot” at a superior; and those in-between who have a little of both of those emotions going. And once again, your board is also excited and looking forward to preparing yet another impressive program for you and your students. Dates to remember: State Board Application must be in November 16, 2012 Festival March 9 & 10, 2013 All registration must be in by 01/25/13 As such, please look over the booklet that we are sending out now over the internet because you will see – again - some changes in registration (note, especially, that each registration will INCLUDE a free t-shirt for the slightly increased fee); new IE forms that will mean that virtually all of the categories your students compete in will be eligible for Nationals; ANOTHER new scholarship opportunity (in case some of your students want to become US) and a theme sure to inspire and motivate the students interested in entering our newest film category! As for our workshops, we will have not only the professional artists you expect for the kids, but also some designed just for you, our sponsors. AND, not only are we offering PD hours for you, the teacher sponsors, BUT you can even apply for college graduate credit! This being said, all that remains is for you to go to www.njthespians.org and get in on all the action. As always, I am available to help and wish every one a happy and healthy new year.
