THE STAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN HIGHER
 Less than 25% of students who enroll in community colleges will earn an
associates degree in less than three years*.
 Among high school graduates, only 24% of those intending to go to college meet
all four ACT benchmarks of College readiness**.
 Between 25% and 39% of students enrolling in community colleges with the
intention of transferring will transfer successfully within 4 to 6 years
 The need to provide more people with opportunities to earn a post-secondary
credential is at the heart of Harper College’s strategic plan.

Early Success Indicators
 Of the 45% who placed into developmental; 75% of them enrolled in a
developmental course their first semester.
 There has been a decrease in the number of students who placed into
developmental levels in Math due to our increased efforts with the high
school partnerships.
 Success rates for developmental students are tracked via IEM’s. Ultimate
goal is to see increase in success rates due to this new policy.

One Stop Center Goals
Access to key services will be improved through streamlining business
practices and improving physical adjacency within the one-stop center.
Access to in-person and web-based services will be aligned so that information
and services available to students online will effectively parallel and ‘mirror’ the
in-person experience.
Alignment of resources will assist students in making better use of their time as
both physical and programmatic barriers will be reduced (or eliminated).
Synergy across service areas will be sought in order to reduce the current silos
of service delivery.
