Health Services Administration Required Prerequisites (15 credits): Students must

The BHSA program offers 50% of courses fully online every semester, while the other
50% is on-ground.
BHSA Scholastic Requirements:
To remain in good academic standing, students must: achieve a grade of C or higher in
Health Services Administration courses. A student who earns less than a C in any
upper division course will be required to repeat the course in order to progress in the
program. A student may repeat a course only one time. Students who have failed two
Health Services Administration courses or have subsequent failures in the same
Health Services Administration course will be removed from the program. A failure is
defined as any grade lower than a C.

Critical Indicator is the minimum grade indicated in specific courses to demonstrate proficiency and progress in
major. Earning less than the minim grade is a trigger for a conversation with advisor.
BHSA SELECTED REQUIREMENTS:

(1) University Core Curriculum: Students must meet the University Core Curriculum (UCC) requirements. For a
full list of UCC Courses, see http://undergrad.fiu.edu/advising/curriculum.html or speak with your advisor. UCC
courses must be taken for a letter grade and may not be taken at other institution without permission the Dean of
Undergraduate Education.
(2) Gordon Rule with Writing (GRW) Requirement: Students are required to demonstrate college-level writing
skills through six semester hours of Gordon Rule Writing-designated courses (GRW). Student can select any two

GRW-designated courses in the University Core Curriculum. These courses can be from the same or different
categories.
(3) Gordon Rule Requirement: Courses in the following areas are considered Gordon Rule: Communication,
Mathematics and courses designated as GRW. A grade of C or better is required in these courses. Gordon Rule
courses must be completed within the first 60 credits.
(4) Global Learning: Freshmen entering FIU Summer B 2010 or later must take at least two Global Learning (GL)
designated courses at FIU. See http://goglobal.fiu.edu . Once GL course must be from the UCC, which must be
taken within the first 60 credits. The other GL course is discipline-specific (3000/4000 level).
(5) Natural Sciences: Student must take the lecture course and the lab together within the same semester
(6) Summer Hours Requirement: All students entering FIU or any university within the State University System
(SUS) of Florida with fewer than 60 credit hours are required to earn at least 9 credit hours prior to graduation by
attending one or more summer terms at a university in the SUS.
(7) Foreign Language Requirement for Graduation (FLENT/FLEX): A student who did not complete two years of
the same foreign language in high school or at a post-secondary institution must successfully complete 8-10
credits hours of instruction in or foreign language prior to graduation. Exceptions include appropriate CLEP, AP,
IB, TOEFL, or transfer credit. Contact your advisor for more information.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
-Completion of University Core Curriculum

-Completion of both global learning courses
-Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
-Completion of all HSA program requirements with a grade of C or better
