How did they shape your impressions at that time? 7. What were you taught in school and at home about the Soviet Union? What did your school and family teach about nuclear threats and nuclear war? 8. Were you or any of your family members ever afraid that there would be a hot war or nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union? When did you feel that way? If yes, did you do anything to prepare or get ready for it? 9. What aspects of the Space Race do you remember? Was "Space Race" a phrase that you remember using at the time? What did it mean to you? 10. How was the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union promoted in sports? Can you think of any specific examples? 11. Do you remember the Berlin Wall coming down? How did it make you feel? How have your feelings about that era changed since 1989 and the Berlin Wall coming down? 12. How do you think future generations will remember the Cold War? What lessons should students today take away from the Cold War? 13. How does psychological warfare today compare to psychological warfare during the Cold War? 14. What from the interview did I find most surprising? 8.01 Example 8.04 The Iron Curtain Comes Down Students create a photo story with justifications of the top five causes of the fall of the Soviet Union Step 1: Study the list of ten images at the bottom of the screen on your assessment, and select five that represent what you believe were the greatest factors that contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union. You will find the events at the end of the lesson. Step 2: Create a PowerPoint by arranging the images in order of importance and write a description for each image. Step 3: Each image event description should include the following elements: 1. explain Who was part of the event 2. What happened in the event 3. Where did the event happen 4. When did the event happen 5. Why did the event happen Step 4: The summary paragraph should include the following elements: be at least five sentences in length justifies why you placed these five images in the order that you did Pick 5 events from the lesson and click to create your template. 8.04 Example Explain each event. Explain why they are in the order they are in. 8.07 Invisible Warfare Design your own "Square of Hope" quilt square. You can draw the quilt square by hand, or use digital images. (If you draw it take a picture, then submit it! ) The quilt square should contain at least one image related to the 9/11 attacks. Step Two Write a paragraph describing what the symbols and image(s) you chose for your square mean to you. The paragraph should contain the following elements: at least five sentences describing the quilt square a description or explanation for each image or symbol used an explanation of the significance of each image or symbol 8.07 Example Include a picture, and a meaning of the picture. Explain your answers to the Religious Fundamentalism part. 8.08 Module Review / DBA How do I prepare for this DBA? Look at the objectives listed in the beginning of the module Take notes on those and be ready to compare and contrast the arms race, proxy wars ,and the cold war. Vocab, dates, and places are important BUT be ready to tell us WHY and HOW they are important Be ready talk about the nationalist leaders, their impacts, and the cause and effects of the conflicts. Be ready to, in detail, post war China Set a time with your teacher when you are free from distraction and can focus on the DBA CALL YOUR TEACHER NOW!
