Student Account Authorization
Revised 07.24.14
A Federal student aid credit balance is created when there is a credit balance remaining after tuition and fees, room and board (if
applicable), and other educationally related charges have been paid for each payment period of an academic year with Federal
student aid funds. This form will allow you to choose how the Federal student aid credit balance is managed. The option you
choose will remain in effect for your entire lifecycle as a student at Ashford University unless you make any changes to your
selection.
I voluntarily authorize the University to hold and manage my Federal student aid credit balance and acknowledge that I will
not earn interest on these balances. I understand that as a student (or parent in the case of a PLUS loan), my authorization allows
Ashford University to hold any credit balance beyond the 14 day period, and portions of the funds will be released to the student
or parent throughout each payment period. The specific stipend payment schedule will disburse thirty percent (30%) of each
payment period's excess funds after the seventh week of attendance provided the student has successfully completed one
course within that time period, and the remaining seventy percent (70%) of excess funds after the fourteenth week of
attendance provided the student has successfully completed two courses within that time period.
I do not authorize the University to hold and manage my Federal student aid credit balance as described above. I understand
that the credit balance must be paid to the student (or parent in the case of a PLUS loan), no later than 14 days after the funds
have been received by the school (or 14 days after the first day of class if the credit balance occurred before the first day of class
of a payment period), and it has been determined that there are remaining funds.
I choose to skip this document. I understand that by choosing to skip this document I will default to the details as described
above when choosing not to authorize the University to hold and manage my Federal student aid credit balance.
You may change your selection at any time by providing a written request to Revocations@ashford.edu using the email address
listed within the student file or to the mailing address below. If an authorization withdrawal is received, the University will issue
the credit balance to the student or parent, as applicable, within 14 days of receiving the written withdrawal notification. Please
contact the Student Accounts Department for detailed instructions if you decide to change your option. Please note that any
changes you make to your option will not be retroactive.
