ITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong”
Marcos,
Jr
said
here
yesterday he has kept his “options
open” on proposals for him to run
for president in 2016.
In a press conference
with local media, Marcos
declined to comment on
whether he would support Sen. Grace Poe,
who is rumored to be his
half-sister, should she
run for president.
Marcos said, however, that much will depend
on the options of the Nacionalista Party (NP) for
2016 including possible
support for Poe should
an alliance be established with her.
But Marcos dismissed
talks that Poe is his half
sister. “Biro biruan lang
naman yan,” he said.
“I call her sis and
she calls me kuya. I was
laughing the first time I
met her after the 2013
elections and I remarked
that we were supposed to
be siblings, so we made
that a career,” he said.
Marcos
dismissed
the alleged blood relations as “one of the silly
rumors that go around.”

CIAC chief supports CDC boss
Clark International Airport Corporation
(CIAC) President and
CEO Atty. Emigdio Tanjuatco III has thrown his
full support for Clark
Development Corporation (CDC) President
Arthur P. Tugade after
reports that he has resigned from his post.
“I find this controversy totally unwarrant-
ed, and almost comical,” Tanjuatco said in a
statement.
Tanjuatco said” Atty.
Tugade deserves all
the support and cooperation necessary in
his advocacy to instill
a culture of professional management and accountability at CDC and
responsible corporate
citizenship among its lo-
cators.”
“If there is anything
beyond doubt about
him (Tugade), it is his
utter seriousness to
follow President Aquino’s leadership towards
good governance.”
He said that Tugade
has done a remarkable
job at CDC saying that
“he has made the entire Clark Freeport Zone
a haven for investment
opportunities that would
benefit not only in Pampanga but the rest of
the country.
He also cited Tugade’s support to the
development of the
Clark International Airport (CRK) saying that
“we highly appreciate and value Atty. Tugade’s insights and
continuing support for
the successful growth
and development of the

The survey asked the
locators to rate the CDC
service received “on
scale of 1 to 3, where 3 is
Excellent and 1 if Needs
Improvement.”
The categories comprised “Completeness of

Service and Information,
Timeliness of Response
and Process, Responsiveness, Courtesy and
Professionalism, Quality of Our Facilities: Signages, Cleanliness and
Orderliness, and In General Were You Satisfied

Comments and suggestions
were
also
asked the locators with
the information: “This
form serves as a guide.
You may freely express
your comments or suggestions in the manner

While conceding as a
“management tool to improve services,” a number of locators said the
survey “could be used as

LTO admits 5,000 CL plate backlog
But no suspension of ‘No plate, no travel’
By Ashley Manabat
Punto! Central Luzon • April 23 - 25, 2015 • Thursday - Saturday
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Around 5,000 cases of
delayed issuance of vehicle
plates has compelled the Land
Transportation Office (LTO) regional office here to face various stakeholders complaining
of the “no plate, no travel” policy currently being implemented by the agency.
The LTO met with the various stakeholders last Tuesday
to address the problem including the lack of plastic ID drivers’ licenses.
Jason
Salvador,
LTO
spokesman, admitted that
2
there are certain things that
need to be corrected.
“When we first implemented the ‘No Registration, No
Travel Policy’ early this month,
it was with our understanding
that there were no backlogs
nationwide because those
were the reports that we were
getting from the regional meetings that were conducting. So
we were surprised that’s why
we’re here to find out why that
happened…But one thing’s for
sure, we’re here to correct everything,” Salvador explained.
Central Luzon has the largest number of plate backlogs
at around 5,000. But Salvador
AC mourns loss of
former vice mayor
ANGELES CITY – Surrounded by family and friends, former
city vice mayor Alberto Ganzon Pamintuan, Jr. passed away
Tuesday night after suffering from aplastic anemia at the Sacred Heart Hospital, this city. He was 90 years old.
“My father’s death is truly a tragic loss for all of us in the
family, but we are consoled by the thought that he is reunited with my mother, Ima Lilay, my brother Benedict, Apung
Delang, Lolo Quitong, and all his siblings who went ahead of
him in heaven.” said the current city mayor.
Alberto Pamintuan, or Tatang Berts, as he is fondly remembered, was born February 12, 1925. He is the longest
reigning vice mayor in the city, holding the mantle from 1960
until 1971 and serving under four city mayors. He was the last
municipal vice mayor of Angeles and the first city vice mayor,
having worked with Mayor Rafael del Rosario and Congresswoman Juanita Nepomuceno for the approval of the cityhood
charter of Angeles, signed into law by then president Diosdado Macapagal. Angeles formally became a city in January 1,
1964.
In his youth, Tatang Bert worked as a photographer at the
Photo Lab of the former Clark Air Base. He was married to
the former Leonila “Lilay” Dizon.
He first ventured in to public service when he was elected Tiniente Barangay (or Barangay Captain) in Pulung Bulu.
He organized the youth of his barangay to become a potent
force in performing organized community services, including clean-up drives on the surrounding areas, waterways,
clogged drainage system and public market. This was how
the group Sipag at Tiyaga started. Because of his dedication
and genuine spirit to serve the people, he was elected Vice
Mayor under the Nacionalista Party, a position he held for 11
straight years.
He worked for the government for over 30 years.
He was survived by his children Mayor Ed, Adela, Mario,
Susan, Alberto Jr, Bess, and Anna. His wife, Lilay, and son
Benedict, went ahead of him.
His remains lie in repose at the Resurrection Chapel of
the La Pieta Memorial Park. –Angeles CIO
clarified that the situation in the
region is “an isolated case.”
In addition, Salvador also
disclosed that the region has
about 18,000 cases of drivers’
license problem. However, he
said the LTO is in the process
of procuring ID license cards
to resolve the problem.
“LTO is trying to collect data.
As regards the license thing,
yes there is a problem with the
license supply. We admitted
that we have a supply problem
with regards to ID license cards
but we‘re in the process of bidding them out,” he said.
“A pre-bidding conference
was held this month and we’ll
have the bidding process on
May 20. So hopefully that will
solve everything,” Salvador
added as he admitted that the
best thing to do is to have “a
blanket solution instead of a
band aid solution.”
He said the LTO is bidding it out not only to solve the
problem but also “to upgrade
the type of license that we’re
issuing to International standards.”
This developed even as
the LTO’s national office urged
the motoring public to observe
the “No Plate, No Travel” policy as “it is stated in the law
that seven days upon the purchase of a vehicle, the owner
should register it otherwise,
he/she cannot use it.”
Salvador explained that the
LTO cannot just suspend the
policy as what Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano and Pampanga
3rd District Rep. Oscar S. Rodriguez have been calling for.
The policy is for the protection of the motorists, he
stressed. “So we, the motoring
public themselves, the dealers and us in the LTO, need
to work together to make sure
that they register their vehicles
on time,” Salvador said.
“The most important thing
why we talk to stakeholders is
because we want to find out
where the gaps are, where we
can help and improve the services to make it more efficient
for the public,” Salvador reiterated.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A
livestock company that went directly into servicing consumers
is now on its 10th year of producing quality, fresh and safe meat
in the market.
On Tuesday, Fresh Options
celebrated its 10th anniversary
with a gala night at the Heroes
Hall here.
Fresh Options began selling
its produce on April 1, 2005 from
a small space at SPC Supermarket in Angeles City.
Today, Fresh Options has 74
branches in Pampanga, Bataan, Olongapo, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Metro
Manila and soon in the Visayas
and Mindanao.
Earlier, a press conference
was held at the Hall’s Amphitheater where Fresh Options President-CEO Dr. Robert Lo and his
executives briefed the media on
their company’s operations and
future plans.
Lo said Fresh Options compete on “quality” in the market since it is the only company
in the industry that conducts a
weekly quality audit.
“We deliver our products in
crates instead of sacks like our
competitors,” he said.
“Our company maintains the
freshness of its meat,” Lo said
adding that most of their competitors are using imported meat
frozen in freezers while Fresh
Options has its own farm.
“All products are displayed in
chillers since the purpose is to
adhere very strictly to the shelf
life of the meat,” said Dr. Wendell Umali who is in charge of research and development (R&D).
“The company’s R&D department is very keen in observing
the shelf life of its products and
adopts the first in, first out system,” he added.
Lo said Fresh Options’ is “different from other meat shops
because we deliver base on the
orders of our store operation supervisors; so we don’t deliver
whole carcass because there
are some particular demands of
the market in different places.”
He said in Pampanga,
Kapampangans like the pork
face for their sisig while in Ma-
nila they like spare ribs, “so there
are specific demands for each
market.”
“Other meat shops they have
to deal with the whole carcass,”
he added.
Fresh Options produce its
own pig and poultry feeds for its
livestock, slaughter the animals,
processed them and dressed
them for its meat shops and retail
operations.
Fresh Options is available at
Water Mart supermarkets and
Super 8 supermarkets here as
well as in 15 stores in Manila
like Welcome Supermarkets and
convenient stores like All Day
Minimarts and All Day Supermarkets.
It can also be delivered right at
your doorstep within the five-kilometer radius of a Fresh Options
store.
Soon, it will be sold at AyalaGold, the partnership supermarket of Ayala Malls and Puregold
Supermarket.
Lo said actress and celebrity
cook Manilyn Reynes will soon
be endorsing Fresh Options.
Meanwhile, Fresh Options
is also now into processed meat
products like the classic tocino
and logganiza as well as ready to
heat cooked viands.
HACCP certified
Lo said Fresh Options is at
par with international standards
when it comes to safety since it
is certified by the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points
(HACCP). This is a preventative
food safety system in which every step in the manufacture, storage and distribution of a food
product is scientifically analyzed
for microbiological, physical and
chemical hazards.
Fresh Options is also an ISO
22000 certified which is a standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization dealing with food safety.
AAA slaughterhouse
Fresh Options will soon be establishing its own National Meat
Inspection Service (NMIS) certified AAA slaughterhouse.
It also plans to construct additional buildings “to expand our
pig and poultry farm to accommodate additional volume.”

EdPam to chair water summit
AC moves to address impending water crisis
Angeles City. - Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan has
started implementing measures to avert a water
crisis in this highly urbanized city in Central Luzon.
Among these measures are massive tree planting in
and around the city through the Task Force One Million Trees, the cleaning of Abacan River and Sapang
Balen, and close coordination with the Angeles City
Water District relative to the conservation of water
resources.
“According to studies, the entire country including
Central Luzon, the Province of Pampanga and the
City of Angeles will experience a major water shortage, a nationwide water crisis by the year 2025. But
we will not wait for that. We will not allow that to happen,” Pamintuan said.
“We have started our programs aimed at contributing to solving the looming water crisis as early as
late 2010, during the beginning of my first term as
city mayor, and we will continue to address real issues in the days, weeks and months to come,” Pamintuan said.
Pamintuan
The projected water crisis situation has already
affected Iloilo City, which began water rationing last
week. Tankers from the Metro Manila-based corporation Maynilad are being shipped to Iloilo City to ease
the water shortage there.
“It is now time to develop our own watershed in
upland Angeles City. We already have a plan for this
and in fact we have started massive tree planting in
Sapangbato and Margot. Our ground water must be
preserved,” Pamintuan said.
The world no. 8 city mayor disclosed that he will
convene a citywide water summit in early May this
year to craft a comprehensive solution to the looming crisis.
“As city mayor, I will chair this water summit
with the head of the water district, the city council
chairman on environment Councilor Edu Pamintuan, and environmentalist Renato “Abong” Tayag as
my co-chairmen. All sectors will be asked to participate and contribute in coming up with a solution,”
Pamintuan said.

Cabinet
Secretary
Jose Rene Almendras leads
a group of government officials and industry movers
who will give talks about the
rise of Subic Bay as the country’s foremost logistics hub in
Northern Luzon.
Almendras will be the keynote speaker at the 2nd Subic
Bay Maritime Conference &
Exhibit, to be held on April 24,
4
2015 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center in
Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
Themed “Subic Bay: Your
Gateway to Central and Northern Luzon,” the conference is

provide insights on business
opportunities arising in Northern Luzon with all the investments and planning that the
government is putting into the
area.
They will also share updates on infrastructure development projects for the
emerging Subic-Clark Corri-
dor, a growth area that is expected to improve the economy of Luzon region and create
more jobs for local residents.
Meanwhile, Northern Luzon shippers intend to present
to Secretary Almendras during
the event a position paper calling for the further development
of Subic Bay Freeport to decongest Manila and “serve its
true purpose as a catalyst of
economic growth” for the regions north of Metro Manila.
Almendras is also the chairman of the Cabinet Cluster on
Port Decongestion, which successfully worked in cooperation with government agencies
and private stakeholders to
implement measures easing
road traffic and port congestion in the City of Manila.
One of these measures is
to designate Subic and Batangas as extensions of the Port
of Manila in order to encourage ships to divert their shipments to these outer ports.
The position paper points
out that the Subic Bay Freeport ably demonstrated its
capability to handle volume
cargo shipments during the
Manila port congestion. It further urges the administration
to use the momentum to promote Subic as an alternative
container terminal to Manila
for shippers located in Central
and Northern Luzon.
The 2nd Subic Bay Maritime

Water battles
THE NEXT wars will be fought over water. So ‘tis been said all too often, draught
ever becoming a clearer and pressing danger.
58 dead – 32 of the victims
were media workers.
Five years and
five months since.
Zero justice.
And the culture of impunity
continues to reign and
rule this nation.
The Ampatuan Massacre.
There can be no forgetting.
Gov. Lilia G. Pineda though has not the
time to wait, as she’s engaged herself, her
administration in some battles over water now.
Notwithstanding the Department of Health
reporting that 83 percent of Pampanga
households have access to safe and clean
water, the governor – true to her motherhood
persona – would still want unadulterated
certainty on the high potability of water in the
province for the health and general well-being
of her constituency.
At the safe water summit – the first ever in
Central Luzon – she initiated last week with the
DOH and the local water districts, the governor
put the question of the day: What good are the
billions of pesos spent in government health
and sanitation programs, if the DOH does not
engage with the local water districts to ensure
the safety of the water we drink?
“Lahat ng pagpupunyagi ng DOH, pati na ng
mga pamahalaang lokal, tungo sa kalusugan
ng mga mamamayan ay mauuwi sa wala,
kung ang tubig na iniinom, na ginagamit sa
pagluluto man o sa paglilinis sa katawan, ay
hindi sisiguraduhing malinis at ligtas mula sa
anumang dumi, mikrobyo, o mga contaminants
(All the efforts of the DOH, as well as those of
the local governments’ will come to naught,
if the water we drink, we use for cooking and
ablutions, is not certifiably clean and safe from
dirt, germs and other contaminants),” said the
governor.
Of special concern to Pampanga’s Nanay is
the greater access of the masses, the poor and
the marginalized particularly, to safe water.
“The bottled mineral water to those who
can afford to buy it must be made just as
accessible to those who make do from the
faucets in their homes,” she said. “This has to
be in practice, not only in policy, among the
water districts.”
Toward that goal, the governor called for
synergy among the DOH, the local water
districts and the local government units.
“This does not mean, in any way, the LGU
encroaching on the authority of the LWUA (Local
Water Utilities Administration) or intervening
in the affairs of the individual water districts,”
Pineda said.
Stressing: “This is responding to a critical
need to ensure the health of our people which
we are sworn to uphold.”
The water issue is neither passing fad nor
novelty in the Pineda administration.
Aware of the continuing depletion of ground
water and the resultant subsidence which
Pampanga is prone to, the governor early in
her first term commissioned – at no cost to
the government – a study on tapping surface
water for household needs, precisely with the
Pampanga River as source.
The study was made by Maynilad, courtesy
of Kapampangan Manny V. Pangilinan, who is
top honcho of the water service firm’s controlling
Metro Pacific Investments Corp.
Cost-benefit ratio raised questions on the
feasibility of putting up the infrastructure for
surface water as potable water source at this
time. In the near future, it may just be a certainty.
The abundance, indeed overabundance, of
water during the rainy season in the province
interspersed with its dearth in the heat of
summer, sprang another brainchild from the
governor – the establishment of a series of
reservoir dams upstream the Pasig-Potrero
River for irrigation purposes.
Even as a pipsqueak of an opposition was
raised by the quarry operators, fearful that the
flow of sand downstream would be contained
by the dams, thereby adversely affecting the
lucrative industry, the need to ascertain the
feasibility of the idea remains an imperative.
Given the equal need of the agriculture
sector to have full-year access to irrigation
water and tapping sources for it other than the
fast depleting ground water.
The next wars – over water – are yet to
come. But the battles have started, with the
governor fully engaged. The Kapampangan
must do his share. To win, for his own sake.

On April 23, 1946, Manuel A.
Roxas was elected President
of the Commonwealth of the
Philippines. Senators Manuel
Roxas and Elpidio Quirino as
Vice president, running under
the Liberal Wing of the Nacionalista Party, prevailed over
incumbent President Sergio
Osmeña with Senator Eulogio
Rodriguez for the vice presidency running under the Nacionalista Party. A third party,
Partido Modernista (Hilario
Moncado and Luis Salvador
for president and vice president respectively), was also in
the race.
Inaugurated on May 28,
1946 as last President of the
Commonwealth, Roxas continued in office as first President of the Republic which
was proclaimed on the morning of July 4, 1946, this is
when the Philippines was
granted independence by the
United States.
The term of Roxas is the
shortest so far among the
country’s presidents -- one
year, 10 months and 18 days.
He had barely outlined his rehabilitation and reconstruction
programs when death took
him while taking a rest after
delivering a speech at Clark
Field in Pampanga on April
15, 1948.

Roxas entered college at
the University of Manila and
took up law at the University
of the Philippines College of
Law, becoming a member of
the college’s first-ever graduating class in 1913.
He placed first in the Bar
examinations held later that
year. He was immediately drawn into politics and began what became a lifelong
career in government service
to include: provincial fiscal,
congressman, senator, and finance secretary of President
Manuel L. Quezon’s Cabinet.
After his death, Roxas was
replaced by his vice president,
Elpidio Quirino, who also became full-term president after
winning the 1949 presidential
election.

Cicero
deserves it, too
JULY 10, 2009 nang isulat ko
Ang tungkol kay Edna David at Cicero,
Hinggil sa kung bakit sila lang pareho
Ang wala ni kahit kupas na litrato
Na nakasabit sa ‘lobby’ ng Capitol
Bilang ating mga naging Gobernador,
Gaya halimbawa nina Tang’ Bren Z. Guiao,
Lazatin, Mendoza at Urbano Dizon.
(Salamat, bagaman ika nga’y huli na
At ‘six feet below the ground’ na itong isa
Atty. Punsalan at Board Member Edna,
Kung saan tunay namang naglingkod sila
Bilang marangal na anak ng Pampanga.
Kung ang dorobo at mga walanghiya
Ay isinasama sa naging dakila,
Itong mabubuting opisyal pa kaya
Ng pamahalaan ang basta mawala?
At saka anumang naging bahagi na
Ng kasaysayan ay dapat ipreserba,
Kaya ito pa bang malinis talaga
Sa panunungkulan ang di maisama?
Sa marapat bigyan ng ‘due recognition’
Bilang opisyal na naging Gobernador,
‘Since both deserve to have a niche of their own
At the lobby of our Provincial Capitol?’

NAMPICUAN, Nueva Ecija – What it lacks in physical
attributes to lure tourists, this
smallest and poorest town of
the province compensates
with a spiritual come-on.
In the last few months,
thousands of pilgrims have
been drawn here. Reason: to
visit and venerate the permanently enthroned first degree
replica of the “Holy Face of
Jesus of Manoppello” in the
Catholic church here.
The replica is raising this
town from the doldrums and
good tidings are fluttering.
“There’s a noticeable spiritual awakening among residents here since last year,”
said Fr. Christian Magtalas,
parish priest. “Pilgrims elsewhere come here in big numbers every now and then to
venerate the replica of the Holy
Face of Jesus,” he added.
More pilgrims are expected
to come here as the church is
looming to be declared as the
sanctuary of the relic icon in
Asia soon.
This town (population:
13,300; classification: 5th) was
earlier called as “Nagpicuan,”
a Pangasinense word for “curva” or curved trail to Moncada
in Tarlac and Cuyapo in Nueva Ecija. Though it is 180 kilometers north of Manila via the
Maharlika Highway, it can now
be reached in five minutes
from the Anao, Tarlac tollways
of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La
Union Expressway (TPLEx).
On September 16 last year,
however, it became a straight
path for the visit and permanent enthronement of the
replica. On that day, Archbishop Florentino Galang Lavarias
of San Fernando, Pampanga; Bishops Roberto Mallari of
the Diocese of San Jose and
Florentino Cinense of Tarlac;
Fr. Carmine Cucinelli, rector
of the Holy Face Basilica in
Manoppello; and Fr. Christian
Magtalas, parish priest of the
Immaculate Conception Parish here, officiated in the enthronement of the replica.
“It is one of only two first
degree replicas of the Holy
Face of Manoppello,” Magtalas said.
“The first is at the Manopello basilica for public viewing
and veneration while the original is kept in a certain place
within the basilica,” he added
quoting from sources.
By first degree, he explained, some elements of the
original were incorporated in it.
The original relic is described as the “Sudarium,” the
piece of cloth or napkin made
of sea byssus or a precious
marine silk, which covered
the face of the dead Jesus in
his entombment. Measuring
6.70 inches by 9.45 inches
encased between two framed
panes of glass, it has an imprint of an effigy “of a longhaired man with broken nose,
bloodstained forehead, swollen cheek, half-open mouth,
dark brows covering his face,
and eyes in an irregular way
completely open.”
On it is the imprint of the
risen Jesus “with open eyes,
swollen left face, and halfopen mouth.” It is placed between two glass panes and
encased in a reliquary-like
frame and is visible in both the
front and back sides.
From the tomb, the Sudarium had a history of being secretly kept somewhere, trav-
elling from one country to another, stolen twice, and was
handed by a stranger to a doctor in 1506 in the mountain village of Manoppello and was
kept by his family for almost
100 years. It was eventually
turned over to the Capuchin
monks in that town who until
now are the official caretakers
of the relics.
Fast forward to 2013. A
Filipina staying in the United States of America, Daisy Nieves, a devotee afflicted
with a debilitating illness who
visited the Manoppello shrine
at least ten times, proposed to
Fr. Cucinelli to propagate devotion to the relic in America
and the Philippines. The priest
was granted approval by his
archbishop for the tour of the
replica in the US and the Philippines starting on September 2, 2014 to return back to
Manoppello 12 days later.
It was at this time that a
native of this town, Ernest Alzate and wife Lenlen, who are
both staying in the USA and
became a friend to Nieves,
thought of the idea of including
this town in the visit of the relic
to the Philippines whose original itinerary was Metro Manila.
With the three of them, and
Fr. Magtalas, they appealed to
the Manoppello church authorities to include this town in the
visit of the relic. Magtalas, with
the Catholic faithful here, then
stormed heaven with their recitation of 4,000 Hail Mary’s
on two occasions lasting two
hours each to a much more
noble intentions.
“It was fate and faith that
did it. The replica did not only
visit our town but was allowed
to stay here permanently,”
Magtalas said.

namang pangamba sa pagkakasakit at
pagkamatay ang mga alagang baboy
sa Archer Hog Farm sa Baranggay
Daungan dito.
araw.
tubig kaysa pagkain kayat hirap silang
palakihin.
Sila daw
ay umaabot ng 3.2 cycles sa harvest
every year.

During a press conference at the Fortune

Thursday, Sen. Marcos said “these people

that if and when the

he said.
When asked if the
Marcos gold bullions are

had not received any).”
As for the person
claiming to be his stepbrother he said: “No I
don’t know this person.
What I tell everybody is

“Sa buong kasaysayan ng pamilyang

to look at things and see
what’s happening,” he
said.
“Let us observe and
see what happens in the
future. But if there’s one
lesson I learned in politics, never say never and
be prepared for whatever happens,” he added.
Marcos said the NP
has yet no deadline for
deciding on whether it
would field its own pres-
idential candidate, although he said this could
be tackled in its caucus
which starts today. “We
have to determine the
sentiments of its members and allies nationwide first,” he also said.
Marcos hindi kami humihingi ng pera sa taong bayan (In the whole
history of the Marcoses
we do not ask for money from the people),” he
stressed.
It can be recalled that
sometime in August last
year, a man in his 60s
identifying himself as
Angel Ferdinand Marcos and claiming to be
an illegitimate son of the
late President Marcos
had established tempo-
rary base at the Mabalacat City Hall extension
office in Clark.
A
Punto! news
item said the man was
“backed by burly and

and travels in a convoy of black sports utility vehicles to missions
unclear, but he was reported to have recent-
ly

He was later forced
out of the building after
the story came out in

CDC survey form alarms locators
From page 1
“We cannot rate CDC
service as ‘1’ or needing
improvement, or place
anything negative in our
comments because that
would mark us for possible harassment by CDC
management,” said a locator showing the portion of the survey form
where the respondent
should write the name
of the company, his/her
name, contact number,
email address and affix
his/her signature.
While “optional” is
parenthetically enclosed
in the slot of the respondent’s name, “all the other personal data” would
identify him or her, said
the locator.
In the attached “receiving slip”” for the survey form, the name of the
respondent and the company are required which,
said the locator, “nullifies
the optional provision” in
the form.
“They can easily pick
on us, as we are identified. As easily bring
trumped up charges of
violation of our leased
agreements or some
such cases,” he said.
Another
locator
claimed Koreans are
“specially alarmed” over
the form in the wake of
the eviction of their compatriot Steve Kim from
his leased property Hollywood Park for alleged
non-compliance with his
lease agreement.
“Kim is branded as
anti-CDC when he organized the Lubao (hot air)
balloon festival which
beat the Clark festival,”
commented a locator.
“Now there is a climate of fear among locators, specially Koreans,
who may suffer the same
fate as Kim if they criticized the CDC or even if
they give low rating in the
survey,” said the locator.
To another expatriate
doing business at Clark,
the survey will be used
“to prop up (CDC President-CEO Arthur) Tugade’s image.”
“With enough ‘Excellent’ ratings from a captive audience of locators,
the CDC will show that
the 6th rating Tugade re-
ceived from the board of
directors will be shown
as invalid,” he said.
Punto’s Ashley Manabat tried to contact Tugade for his side of the
issue. After failing three
times to get through him,
Manabat called CDC
Vice President Evangeline Tejada.
Over the phone, her
comment was brief: “It’s
a GCG (Government
Commission on GOCCs)
form. It’s not only Clark
that conducted the survey but all other GOCCs
to measure clients’ satisfaction as well as monitor performance of quality management system
in terms of meeting the
clients requirements and
expectations.”

Chinita Princess
KIM Chiu turned 25 last April 19 and she had a big birthday celebration on “ASAP.” “It was a long day for me kasi I also had a grand fans’ day then may launching
ako ng new album ko sa Eastwood,” she says. “I was able to appreciate the support of my fans dahil 7a.m. pa lang, nakalinya na sila sa arawan at nagka-sunburn
tuloy sila.”
Copies of her new album, “Chinita Princess,” was sold out at the Eastwood launch. This is her second album, the first one being “Gua Ai Di.”
“Di ko naman pinangarap na maging singer pero, naka-gold and platinum ‘yun, ha. It’s my fans who asked na mag-album na uli ako kasi the first one was in 2007
pa.
namin, with me playing the guitar.
So how is this different from her first album? “Wala nang Chinese song dito. Also, kung ano ang laman ng album ko, ‘yun ang state of mind ko ngayon. Ang songs
ko rito, puro positive lang. Ayoko na ng mga lungkut-lungkutan.”
She started the program at her album launch singing live the song “Mr. Right.” To whom does she dedicate the song? “Siyempre, sa kung sino ang malapit sa akin
ngayon, si Xian (Lim.) Sana nga, siya na si Mr. Right sa buhay ko. My album has six songs.
not the end of the world, may pag-asa pang magmahal ka uli.”
How will she describe herself now? “I’m very happy, contented. I can really say I’m blessed.”
What’s the secret of her being happy? “It’s in my song ‘Express Yourself’, which says you should not just stay inside but go out of your comfort zone to explore
and learn how to be happy. Another great song is ‘Darating Din’ which says maghintay ka lang dahil darating din ang magandang kapalaran para sa’yo. Kasama sa
album lahat ng minus ones ng six songs dito.”
It’s common knowledge that her ex-BF, Gerald Anderson, has broken up with Maja Salvador, with whom she had a rift then. What can she say about this?
“Actually, wala na ako, labas na po ako diyan. What happened between them, that’s their decision. They’re asking for respect and privacy and they deserve it naman,
so let’s just give it to them. Kasi siyempre, hindi madali ang pinagdaraanan nila. But I’m sure malalampasanan nila ‘yan if they remain strong, kasi everything happens
for a reason.”
She herself went through this when Gerald split from her. “I believe na God allows a heartbreak to happen kasi it makes you a better person. Kapag nalampasan
mo ‘yan, you will be two times or ten times happier dahil nagawa mong tumayo ka uli.”

lang po siguro. When I was in Saudi I could only do golf during weekends. Kaya ditto sa Pilipinas gusto kung sulitin. I
Pagbukas ng klase, I can take morning
classes at pagkagaling sa school tuloy sa golf course, I don’t want to skip a day dahil gusto ko talaga ma-perfect ang
golf,” says Rem when asked about his time management idea.
Going back to his idea of a Tiger-Wood-of-Candaba he wants to be dubbed, what exactly he means by that?
“I love golf at alam ko pong andiyan na ako. I would like to prove that I can be what I want and be good at it. Being
good at it, wala na pong questions, I have proven that. Ngayon po I have tasted how to be good at it at ayaw ko na pong
bumaba pa riyan, level up po ang ibig kong sabihin. siguro po naman isang araw I can show them at mapaniwala ko silang
Very well said, good luck, Christer Rem!
Rita Daniella
Punto! Central Luzon • April 23 - 25, 2015 • Thursday - Saturday
RITA Daniela is launching her self-titled debut album from GMA Records this Sunday at “Sunday All Stars.” At the solo presscon for her at GMA’s Executive
Lounge, Rita appeared in a body-hugging outfit that highlights her curvaceous figure. In her album’s photos, she is also seen in various sexy poses. Does this mean
she’s now ready for an FHM pictorial?
“Ay, hindi po!” she exclaims. “Sa album pictorial pa nga lang, naloka na ang nanay ko, what more kung mage-FHM ako. But
the album itself is really mature, edgy and fierce.”
But didn’t she go sexy in the movie “Asintado” where she seduced Jake Vargas? “Kissing scene lang naman ‘yun. Wala
akong pinakitang skin. Malandi lang talaga ‘yung character ko. But I’m proud of that movie. Nananalo ng awards abroad.”
She sang some songs from her album and we’re really impressed with the quality of her voice. The carrier single,
“I’m Flying High,” is an upbeat number ala-JLo. She has finished shooting the music video and it’ll be shown soon so
watch out for it. Her extended play album has five other songs, of which only “Fallin’” is a revival and the rest are all
originals: “Di Lang Ikaw,” “Forever with You,” “Hahanap-Hanapin Ka,” “Ihip ng Pag-ibig” and the carrier track “I’m
Flying High.” All the songs’ minus ones are also available in the CD.
Turning 20 on September 15, Rita was the grand champion of Pop Star Kids when she was 11 years old. Julie
Anne San Jose was her runner-up but Julie Anne got her own album ahead of her. How did she feel about it?
“Well, like I always say, pana-panahon lang po ‘yan. When I won, time ko ‘yun. Nang mag-shine siya, time niya
yun. Ako naman, I went into acting and nakilala ko doing contravida roles as Rita de Guzman. But now, as Rita
Daniela, I want to be known as a total performer. My new manager, Ms. Anna Puno, is producing my first concert,
but it doesn’t mean I’m forsaking my acting career. Kontrabida pa rin ako uli in ‘Let the Love Begin’.
Basta lahat
ng nangyayari sa’kin at sa career ko, I credit it and lift it all up to God.”
Who does she want to be her special guest in her forthcoming concert? “Kung puwede, si Ate Jolina Magdangal,
kasi siya talaga idol ko noong Pop Star Kids. Sa mga lalake, my crush, Dennis Trillo. I bought his album and I
got to memorize all his songs.”
How did she feel when Alden Richards denied her allegation that they once had a mutual understanding?
“Okay lang. I just smiled when I heard it. He was just being true to himself. Totoo siya, e totoo rin ako. Kaya
nga we remain to be very close friends. Pareho kaming totoo.”

Cable cars eyed for Mt. Samat tourism zone
Punto! Central Luzon • April 23 - 25, 2015 • Thursday - Saturday
PILAR, Bataan- Construction magnate Jerry
Acuzar has proposed
10
the operation of a cable
car in the Mount Samat
Tourism Enterprise Zone
(TEZ) as one of the major attraction at the hallowed mountain made
famous by World War II,
Pilar Mayor Alice Pizarro
announced Wednesday.
The mayor said the
cable car was one of the
amenities proposed in
the crafting of a master
plan for Mount Samat
commissioned by the
Tourism Infrastructure
and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).
Acuzar wants the cable car operation to start
from the Flaming Sword
marker adjacent to the
Pilar municipal hall to
the 92-meter high War
Memorial Cross some
555 meters above sea
level.
Visitors through the
cable cars will be exposed up close to different historical and
scenic spots in the
world-renowned mountain where heavy fighting took place between
Japanese and American-Filipino forces before Bataan fell on April
9, 1942.
“The cable car with
different destinations will
also be an alternative
means of transportation to reach Mount Samat and back to Pilar,”
Pizarro said.
The War Memorial
Shrine, site of the yearly observance of Araw
ng Kagitingan, is about
seven kilometers of
winding road from the
foot of the mountain in
Barangay Diwa. Aside
from Diwa, Barangays
Liyang and Pantingan,
all in Pilar town, are part
of the newly-created
Mount Samat TEZ, she
said.
The Bataan TEZ
which is only second to
Rizal Park in the country has a minimum of
50 hectares of sloping
terrain comparable to
Ocean Park in Hongkong, the mayor said.
Pizarro foresees
the sprouting of a hotel, inter-active museum, theme parks, food
chain, malls, souvenir
shops, convention center and even medical
clinics in the area.
“Aside from the
beautiful sceneries, I
want tourists to see and
appreciate the historical
value of the place,” she
said.
TIEZA that replaced
the Philippine Tourism
Authority has already
commissioned a consultancy firm for P50
million to prepare the
master plan to be finished in six months after
which the Mount Samat
TEZ will be opened for
locators.
The master planner
will design what amenities to be placed in
Mount Samat after a series of public consultations.
The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, the
provincial government
of Bataan and the Pilar
local government unit
will share in the income
of the project.
