 Chapel offerings this quarter will be for the Disaster Response Fund
through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The project is called Mountain of Hope. Our goal is to collect $200 which would provide two families
with tents, blankets, sleeping mats, flashlights, food and water for seven
days, a Bible and activity books.
CHURCH NEWS
Sunday School Rally Day on Sept. 7 had 35 boys and girls enjoying a special
guest: Noah Eschmann told us about his mission trip to Mexico. We welcomed new students. Each week we will meet in the church for our opening
and for music. Then we will go to our classrooms. Today our children will
study the Scripture’s account “Sin Enters the World” as the devil tempted
Adam and Eve to sin. With the fall into sin came God’s punishment of
death—but also His promise of a Savior. You might discuss, “How does sin
affect us as a family? How does God’s promise of a Savior give us comfort?”
Life Together in the study of God’s word at 9:15 a.m. in the church basement
today - 2 Chronicles 17, Pious King Jehoshaphat of Judah. Next week:
1 Kings 22:1-28, Ahab and Jehoshaphat’s War Against the Syrians.
Next week Rev. Wendell Peterson will be preaching at our 10:30 a.m. service. This coincides with the Confirmation Class of 1954 reunion.
Next Sunday, Sept. 28, there will be a bake sale for Advent by Candlelight
between services in the middle basement. Free will offering.
This year’s Kinderfest is Sunday, October 12 from 12:00-4:00 p.m. The
Kinderfest Committee is asking for donations for the Silent Auction. Another
request is for assistance in manning the food tent. We need groups of 5-6
people to fill the following one-hour shifts: 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 2:005:00 p.m. Contact Darsi if you are able to help in any way.
The Senior Card Club meets every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the middle basement. Please join us at our next gathering on September 25.
 If you would like to be a Secret Pal for this year’s confirmation class, please
contact Kim through the Church office.
 Did we miss you? If your birthday or wedding anniversary has not appeared
on our prayer list please contact the main office.
 In an effort to update our nursery and make it more comfortable for parents
& babies, we have created a registry at Babies R Us. It can be viewed
online or at the store using our number 54206102. If you would like a copy
of the registry items, please ask at the main office.
 We are looking for monetary donations to purchase special CD players for
our member shut-ins so they may listen to our recorded services. Each CD
player costs $45 and we would like to purchase at least ten.
 The Harvest Dinner will take place on October 19 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. in
the middle basement. In order to prepare enough food we are asking you to
purchase tickets prior to the event. They will be available between services
starting Sept. 28. $10/adult; $5/children 5-10 years old; 5 and under free.
We will be serving roast beef, roast pork, mashed potatoes, vegetable, cole
slaw & dessert. Carry-outs are available; if requested, we can also deliver.
