Information for Students Entering Grade 11 in 2016 - 2017
Instructions:
1) Before filling out this form consider the following:
a. Before you can start a course you must have completed the prerequisite.
b. Teacher recommendations – see your instructor if you are not sure
c. Course sequence: be sure you are selecting the correct sequence such as
20-1, 20-2, 20-3, 20-4
d. Courses needed to complete high school requirements (see chart below)
e. Courses needed for post-secondary plans
f. If you have questions or concerns see your counsellor in Student Services.
2) Place a check mark next to the course you are requesting. Mark 2 alternate options
with an “A”.
3) Students must take a full program of 7 classes + CALM 20 in grade eleven (7.5
classes).
Alberta High School Diploma Requirements:
• Earn a minimum of 100 credits
• Successfully complete the following courses:
- English to the grade 12 level
- Social Studies to the grade 12 level
- Mathematics to the grade 11 level
- Science to the grade 11 level
- CALM 20
- Physical Education 10
• 10 credits in any combination from:
- Career and Technology Studies
- Fine Arts
- Second Languages
- Physical Education 20 and/or 30
• 10 credits of grade 12 coursework other than English
and Social Studies
Alberta Certificate of High School Achievement:
• Earn a minimum of 80 credits
• Successfully complete the following courses:
- English 20-2 or 30-4
- Social Studies 10-2 or 20-4
- Mathematics 10-3 or 20-4
- Science 14 or 20-4
- CALM 20
- Physical Education 10
• 5 credits in one of the following:
- 30 level K&E occupational course
- 30 level CTS courses
- 30 level locally developed course with an
occupational focus
• 5 credits in one of the following:
- 30 level K&E Workplace Practicum course
- 30 level Work Experience course
- 30 level Green Certificate course
- 35 level RAP course
