Thursday, January 9, 9:00 to 12:00 – New Britain - RB1 Training Room Microsoft Project 2010: This course is a ‘must’ for employees leading or participating in a project or project management using the DARE methodology. Participants learn the phases and processes of a standard project management life cycle framework. The course develops a student's skills to create, edit and link tasks, assign resources, and set-up project calendars. Explore dependencies, constraints and other time management tools to manage the project. Students learn to create a resource list and cost tables for project work, and reuse task data from Outlook and clipboard functions. Additional labs teach students to build new Project reports from the task and resource tables for easy project updating. Learn to send and respond to mail. Discover shortcuts for addressing messages, how to create and use distribution lists. Manage your mail by creating and using folders. Discover how to attach files, how to create auto-signatures, and how to use the autoreply feature. Creating appointments, recurring appointments, scheduling meetings, sharing calendars and printing calendars. It also covers the Contacts and Tasks modules and how they interrelate with e-mail and the calendar. You will learn how to build a worksheet from scratch. The course develops skills to navigate the spreadsheet, enter and edit data, and format text and number entry. Additional skills build an understanding of spreadsheet tools including Formula bar, name box and zoom/ view tools. Discover the easiest ways to setup pages, save, send and print workbooks. A special lab targets compliance requirements to use clipboard (copy and paste) with Excel data and securely distribute workbooks in and out of the healthcare network. Learn to represent your data graphically to make it easier to understand. Discover how to create charts and then make changes to them. Thursday, January 23, 9:00 to 12:00 – New Britain: CIS2 Training Room *NEW Class* Microsoft 2010 Access – Converting Excel Sheets into a Database: This is an ideal class for the non IT or non Finance user who is responsible for managing large datasheets, or for the power Excel user needing larger data sources than Excel. This basic Access class focuses on creating an Access database in 2010. Students learn to import existing Excel spreadsheet through the Wizard, map field and identify a primary key. Navigate the Access window and learn the "Datasheet" vs. "Design" views. The course introduces database concepts and table design through the 2010 tabs. Participants learn to create basic queries and reports through the wizards. The class focuses on best practices to enter data and organize in Excel for Access use. Learn about range names and how to use them in formulas. Discover how to link data from one sheet to other sheets using 3-D and array formulas. Learn to use the functions NOW, IF, PMT and VLOOKUP. Understand formula errors and how to fix them. Thursday, February 6, 9:00 to 12:00 – New Britain - Training Room CIS2 *NEW Class* Microsoft 2010 Word – Creating a Form / Template: Designed for anyone who needs to use the same document or form data repeatedly. Understand the new Word 2010 form tools and legacy tools for compatibility use. Students learn to create the form, use templates and insert form fields that repeat throughout the document! Participants will create new templates for form use in paper and web formats and learn to protect the form for survey completion. This lab also review key tools such as multiple headers and footers, page numbering options, table of contents and use of graphics in 2010 formatting. The class trains students in Excel & Word best practices to organize and analyze data for use in presentations, crossorganizational teams and management distribution. Students learn to custom filter, custom sort and use conditional formatting to identify trends in Excel, and introduction to Pivot Tables and one step charts. Additional lab focuses on organizing summary trends into another application, including new Paste Option choices, linking and format options.
