PC Training Class Schedule: January - March, 2014
Microsoft 2010 Excel and Word Combo: The class is a combination of Word
Basics and Excel Basics. Create documents, proof, save and print. Review
new Excel Basics features including database features, formatting and
distributing.
Thursday, January 9, 9:00 to 12:00 – New Britain - RB1 Training Room
Microsoft Project 2010: This course is a ‘must’ for employees leading or
participating in a project or project management using the DARE methodology.
Participants learn the phases and processes of a standard project management
life cycle framework. The course develops a student's skills to create, edit and
link tasks, assign resources, and set-up project calendars. Explore
dependencies, constraints and other time management tools to manage the
project. Students learn to create a resource list and cost tables for project
work, and reuse task data from Outlook and clipboard functions. Additional
labs teach students to build new Project reports from the task and resource
tables for easy project updating.

Microsoft 2010 Outlook - E-mail & Calendar: This class teaches the e-mail
and calendar function of Outlook. Learn to send and respond to
mail. Discover shortcuts for addressing messages, how to create and use
distribution lists. Manage your mail by creating and using folders. Discover
how to attach files, how to create auto-signatures, and how to use the autoreply feature. Creating appointments, recurring appointments, scheduling
meetings, sharing calendars and printing calendars. It also covers the
Contacts and Tasks modules and how they interrelate with e-mail and the
calendar.

Microsoft 2010 Excel Basics: For anyone new to spreadsheets or for those
who need a refresher of the basics. You will learn how to build a worksheet
from scratch. The course develops skills to navigate the spreadsheet, enter and
edit data, and format text and number entry. Additional skills build an
understanding of spreadsheet tools including Formula bar, name box and
zoom/ view tools. Discover the easiest ways to setup pages, save, send
and print workbooks. A special lab targets compliance requirements to use
clipboard (copy and paste) with Excel data and securely distribute workbooks
in and out of the healthcare network.

Microsoft 2010 Excel Intermediate – Charting Data: “A picture is worth a
thousand words” and Excel charts are no exception! Learn to represent your
data graphically to make it easier to understand. Discover how to create charts
and then make changes to them. Learn to use various chart types including
bars, pies, columns and more.

Microsoft 2010 Access – Converting Excel Sheets into a Database: This is
an ideal class for the non IT or non Finance user who is responsible for
managing large datasheets, or for the power Excel user needing larger data
sources than Excel. This basic Access class focuses on creating an Access
database in 2010. Students learn to import existing Excel spreadsheet through
the Wizard, map field and identify a primary key. Navigate the Access window
and learn the "Datasheet" vs. "Design" views. The course introduces database
concepts and table design through the 2010 tabs. Participants learn to create
basic queries and reports through the wizards. The class focuses on best
practices to enter data and organize in Excel for Access use. This is a time
saving class for any data user!

Microsoft 2010 Excel Intermediate Formulas & Functions: This course is
for those people who need to create more complex worksheets. Learn about
range names and how to use them in formulas. Discover how to link data from
one sheet to other sheets using 3-D and array formulas. Learn to use the
functions NOW, IF, PMT and VLOOKUP. Understand formula errors and how
to fix them.

Microsoft 2010 Word – Creating a Form / Template: Designed for anyone
who needs to use the same document or form data repeatedly. Understand the
new Word 2010 form tools and legacy tools for compatibility use. Students
learn to create the form, use templates and insert form fields that repeat
throughout the document! Participants will create new templates for form use
in paper and web formats and learn to protect the form for survey
completion. This lab also review key tools such as multiple headers and
footers, page numbering options, table of contents and use of graphics in 2010
formatting.

Microsoft 2010 -PowerPoint Basics: For anyone new to presentation
software or for those who need a refresher on the basics of PowerPoint. You
will create a presentation from beginning to end. Learn to use the preset slide
layouts, work with text boxes and clip art and apply professional looking
designs. Discover how to run a slide show and what your printing options are.

*NEW* Microsoft 2010 Creating a Dashboard / Reporting with Excel &
Word: Students learn to create a dashboard, or summary report of key trends
and business performance metrics. The class trains students in Excel & Word
best practices to organize and analyze data for use in presentations, crossorganizational teams and management distribution. Students learn to custom
filter, custom sort and use conditional formatting to identify trends in Excel,
and introduction to Pivot Tables and one step charts. Additional lab focuses on
organizing summary trends into another application, including new Paste
Option choices, linking and format options. A “must” for managers of those
responsible for cross-org or matrixed positions.

Microsoft 2010 Excel Introduction to Formulas: Recommended for anyone
who uses Excel on an introductory level, but needs help with creating formulas
and using functions. Students learn to build simple formulas using the
Formula bar, entry in the cell and auditing skills. The labs then develop
formulas using multiple operations and functions. The students gain a solid
foundation in copy and paste of spreadsheet formulas, and checking their
work.

soup to you, this is just the course for you! This course is ideal for those in
clinical or non IT positions without daily use of computer entry required, or
anyone new to computers and the Windows 7 / Office 2010 Windows
environment, or anyone with a child older than six in their household. This is
also a good class for those who are self-taught and gain computer, keyboard
and Windows shortcuts - while gaining an understanding of common computer
terminology, ‘cut and paste’, CTRL, Right click tricks and more. Gain more
confidence behind the keyboard while learning best practices to find files,
organize and share with others.

Microsoft 2010 -PowerPoint Intermediate – Adding a Professional
Look: Anyone who knows the basics of PowerPoint but needs to enhance their
presentations should take this class. Participants will learn to use animation,
graphic design, hyperlink and media tools. They will use Graph to chart data
and import a chart from Excel. Students will also work with templates, Master
Slides and special effects.

Microsoft 2010 Word Combo - Merge and Excel Data: This new class
combines the popular “Mail Merge” steps -- with the know-how to prepare your
data source in Excel. These combined database and merge skills are a
necessity for anyone who has to produce documents that need to be sent to
groups of people. Learn to merge lists of information (in either Excel or Word)
into letters, forms, or labels in Word-- as well as the top 10 tips to create a
database list for mailings.

Microsoft 2010 Combo - Data Analysis Basics: Do you manage one page
lists Excel and then export data to Word? Explore Excel’s database features to
find specific records quickly, make data entry easier, sort and query your data.
Learn to chart data with Excel and then paste into Word effectively. This course
will also incorporate creating tables in Word 2007 and linking.

Microsoft 2010 Excel For Managers: For Directors or employees managing
others, this course builds Excel worksheet knowledge at the Basics level.
Students learn fundamental terminology and Windows tools to build a
spreadsheet. The course develops skills to navigate the spreadsheet, enter and
edit data, and format text and number entry. Additional skills build an
understanding of spreadsheet tools including sort, filter, zoom and view
tools. Managers learn the best practices in page layout and printing
worksheets to specific page sizes, as well as building a header and footer. The
course builds an understanding of save and send options, including
compliance requirements to safely use clipboard (copy and paste) and
distribution options in and out of the healthcare network.
