Wildlife The Estate is home to an abundance of wildlife, with the lakes and High Park designated as ‘Sites of Special Scientific Interest’. Parts of the Estate are also listed in the Cotswold’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have identified some of the species you might see at each point around the trail so make sure you have your camera ready! ‘Capability’ Brown 2016 2016 marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, a designer who changed our national landscape and created a style which has shaped people’s view of the quintessential English countryside. To commemorate this occasion, we are part of a nationwide celebration of Brown’s work that brings together a huge range of events, exhibitions and openings. We aim to inspire new generations of visitors, participants and experts to leave a legacy of new information, skills and enthusiasm for landscape. Discover and Explore Use the map overleaf to navigate around the Parkland and find a series of specially-created boards, providing information on the views and vistas created by Brown and his workmen between 1763 and 1774. To honour Brown’s work and showcase our stunning surroundings we also have a temporary exhibition in the Gallery Room running until 2nd May, a walking tour of the Formal Gardens and horse & carriage rides* on selected dates to help you see the Park in the way it was intended years ago. Ask a member of staff for more information and to book any of these activities. *Additional charge applies. Did you know?
