The International University is the first public international
university in Vietnam that teaches entirely in English and
meets international standards in all aspects including academic curriculum, teaching staffs, and infrastructure. The
International University has been educating students from
across the country as well as other countries. Our emphasis on both research and real-world education has made
IU an industry leader in training.
Established in 2003 as the first public university in Viet
Nam with 100% curriculum taught in English, IU strives
toward three objectives: to provide an international quality
education, to conduct and apply innovative research, and
to play a key role in the sustainable development of our
society and country.
With our training program, IU guarantees to provide students with a comprehensive education which combines
not only academic knowledge, but also the skills and ideas
for scientific research, and the confidence to cope with
new global challenges.
For our research development, IU spends annually a large
portion of its budget investing in scientific research and
building modern laboratories. Our university has also
mandated official policies and specific regulations toward
research activities to develop our university as one fundamentally oriented in science and research.
One of the most important goals that IU wants to achieve
is to apply science effectively in a real life practical way
and to conduct research on critical issues of society. With
this mission, IU is now focusing on building a research and
technology transferring center. We also plan to develop
specialized research centers such as a center on global
climate change, and a center on sustainable development.
Within five coming years the International University will
become a high quality, research-oriented university with:

• A large, dedicated, highly competent faculty;
• Modern facilities for instruction and research;
• A professional administrative staff;

It is our hope that IU, by adhering to the above-mentioned

training and research universities in the region - an ideal
high-quality source of human capital for our country’s development.

IU provides both Vietnamese and international students
with a sustainable education and training through a
choice of IU’s master and bachelor degree programs or
twinning programs that cooperate with other universities

Up to May, 2013, the international university has acquired
ACCREDITATION of the ASEAN UNIVERSITY NETWORK –
QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEM (AUN-QA) for the programs
of four schools: the School of Information Technology, the
School of Bio-Technology, the School of Business and the
School of Electrical Engineering.
In addition to our currently established downtown centre
on 3B Ly Tu Trong Street- district 1, we are continuing our
efforts in developing the Thu Duc campus into a state of
the art modern campus with high-tech classrooms and
research facilities as well as recreational and residential
facilities for students.

classes?
You don’t. This collaborative program gives you an opportunity to earn a global postgraduate qualification without
having to travel from one country to another country. The
entire course is run in Ho Chi Minh city center - the International University’s Campus on 3B Ly Tu Trong Street,
District 1, with the Northeastern units mainly taught by
Northeastern faculty. Of course if you do want to study in

3. ABOUT HO CHI MINH CITY
Vietnam’s bustling largest city sets the cultural and economic pace for the country. The former Saigon boasts
charming French colonial architecture and wide boulevards, usually thronged and choked with traffic. Cyclos are
an option for seeing the sprawling city. The War Remnants
Museum shows the Vietnam War through Vietnamese
eyes. Don’t miss the impressive Jade Emperor Pagoda.
Go to the frenetic Ben Thanh Market for food, flowers or
frogs. Tour through the Mekong Delta, past rice paddies
and houseboats.
Who are Saigon people?
Pretty much everywhere. When we ask our international
students what they like most about Saigon, they almost
always say “the people”. Our long history of multiculturalism has created a community that is accepting and

Plenty of attractions are waiting for your sensory
explosions. The historic sites are outstanding, but
perhaps the most fun is to be had in day trips just
outside the city, to the Cu Chi tunnel complex and the
Mekong River. Ho Chi Minh City hosts a multitude of
events and festival activities, including Tropical Fruits
Festival in Suoi Tien Theme Park, Water Puppets in
History Museum or War Remnant Museum.
Food is also an essential piece of Ho Chi Minh City. Saigon offers the country’s largest variety of Vietnamese
and international foods. Local food at bargain prices is
very easy to find in Saigon. You can find street food in
every step you make in Saigon, such as “Banh mi Thit”
(Pork bread), “Com tam” (Broken Rice), “Pho”, and so
on. Food in Saigon becomes a culture cuisine of this
city, you can go around by motors, see the local life and
enjoy great food.

In the city centre you can wind your way through “Saigon’s
many laneway shops, bars and cafés, or step onto one of the

Where will your study take you?
As a participant in the Global Leadership Program you will
also have the option of applying to Northeastern to take
part of your course on campus in Boston (you will need to
apply for a US student visa). Boston is the ultimate college
town. The city is a hub of cultural, educational and social
activity, yet it’s small enough to navigate on foot.
More than 300,000 college students from around the
country and the world call Boston home and the city is
alive with their energy. Northeastern students add their

High-achieving students with strong leadership potential
have the opportunity to participate in the “Global Leadership in Boston” program.
This six-week program allows eligible students to complete the units Building Financial Relationships and the
Ethical Leader at Northeastern University in Boston during
the northern hemisphere summer as well as undertaking
relevant industry visits in and around Boston.
You will be taught by Northeastern’s experienced network
of mentors, have a chance to gain a greater global awareness of business practices in a cross-cultural setting, and
be able to develop knowledge and skills in international

6. THE GLOBAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Leadership Stream
All students in the Master of Science in global Leadership
Program complete the Leadership Stream. The Leadership
Stream involves a total of eight courses taught by Northeastern University academic staff.
On successful completion of all eight leadership units and
all specified IU courses graduates are eligible for the Master of Science in Leadership from North Eastern University
as well as the relevant master degree from the International University.

The traditional concept that leadership skill resides solely
with a small handful of top executives has given way to
contemporary collaborative models where influence and

Stream is designed to assist today’s leaders and prepare
emerging leaders in meeting these challenges.
