Yew Chung Community College Offers International Student Scholarship Hong Kong, 20 June 2012. In keeping with Yew Chung’s vision for truly international education, Yew Chung Community College (the “College”) announced the offer of International Student Scholarship that will start in academic year 2012-13. The International Student Scholarship (ISS) aims to support overseas students who might otherwise not have the opportunity to study at Yew Chung Community College due to financial or other constraints. Each year, 8 scholarships will be awarded to 2 students each from the following four regions: Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. Successful applicants will enjoy a full scholarship covering the study programme (i.e. full tuition fee for the 1-year UFD programme or full tuition fee for the 2-year AD Programme, the scholarship also includes a trip to another country for Investigative Study after the completion of the first year of study of AD Programme. “The College selects the ISS candidates based on a multi-faceted approach, students’ academic results in the secondary school, involvement in extracurricular activities and community services will be reviewed by a Scholarship Panel, followed by an interview,” said Dr Teddy So, President of Yew Chung Community College. “Interested overseas students are encouraged to submit their application with a personal written statement with 300 – 500 words on the topic What does international education mean to you?”, Dr So continued. The ISS enables overseas students who is eyeing on the opportunity to develop bilingual skills in an international learning and living environment. The due date for application for the International Student Scholarship 2012/13 is 31 July 2012. The College hopes that the ISS can make the world a little smaller by contributing to the international environment on-campus as well as promoting cross-cultural understanding.
