Keel Selection Instructions
To optimize the selection and ensure amputee’s safety, follow the steps below to determine the
appropriate keel.
1.In the chart below, select amputee’s foot size.
2.Within the selected row, select patient weight.
Important Note: Seattle Lifecast Keel Selection chart is for medium activity level; choose the next
higher keel if amputee is a higher activity level, has a long BK, carries heavy loads or will reach a
higher activity level within a year.
Warning: Choosing a lower strength keel than what is suggested based on the above procedure and
patient data will void the warranty. If your patient’s weight exceeds the limits of the chart, please
