PURPOSE AND GOALS
Our common goal is to achieve team excellence through group collaboration, leadership
growth, personal growth, and individual understanding. In using all of our resources, we
aim to achieve a high level of academic performance while not sacrificing a healthy
work/life balance.
We agree that group understanding is the ultimate goal and is more important than
achieving a high score if the two are ever mutually exclusive. Each team member will
fully understand the elements of a group project before it is submitted.
Each group member has different professional and personal goals. As a group, we will
strive to ensure each member’s goals are met and that each team member secures the
skills necessary for success. We will also work to identify and help improve on each
team member’s weaknesses.
Leadership positions will be spread amongst group members and we will strive to
challenge each other in areas where we are not as knowledgeable in order to benefit the
most.
We will respect all cultures, backgrounds and ideas.
CORE VALUES
ATMOSPHERE
Team members will facilitate a supportive environment showing respect for each team
member. We will not criticize ideas and will communicate effectively to mitigate
conflict. We will never be competitive within the team, but will achieve the highest level
of performance possible.
EFFICIENCY
We will work to complete all projects and group assignments in a timely manner in order
to maintain a healthy balance between work and personal time. Group members will
deliver material on or before the date determined by the team and any problems will be
addressed early enough to allow for revisions to assignments or timelines.
EXCELLENCE
We will achieve the highest success possible on both individual and team assignments
while helping each team member fully understand the material. We will focus our
competitive spirit on excellence, not only defining excellence in terms of grades, but in
learning and improving.
INTEGRITY
We will abide by all university guidelines and the honor code. Team members in conflict
will communicate directly and move forward.
POTENTIAL OBSTACLES
WORK/LIFE BALANCE
Our group will work and succeed together with a commitment to completing tasks with
efficiency and in a timely manner in order to be able to pursue interests outside of school
and allow group members to concentrate on networking and career goals. However, we
will not sacrifice performance or understanding.
GROUP STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES
We are a diverse group with multiple career and ethnic backgrounds. We are all
committed to embracing our diversity, learning from each other, relying on individual
strengths to better the team as a whole, and communicating effectively in order to
minimize conflict. While we realize conflict is inevitable within our group, we are
committed to do everything possible to learn from the conflict and move forward quickly.
GROUND RULES AND GUIDELINES
EXPECTATIONS
Group members are expected to attend all team meetings and be on time. Team members
are expected to turn in all assigned work on or before the due date. Work is to be
completed in a professional manner and any problems should be addressed in time to
determine a new course of action and still complete the assignment in a timely manner.
While one team member may be assigned a specific task, he should seek assistance on
anything he does not understand.
As a rule, all group assignments will be signed off on by each group member the day
prior to the assignment being due.
RULES AND CONSEQUENCES
Team members are required to attend all scheduled meetings and should show flexibility
in the instance that last-minute meetings are necessary to complete a project or
assignment. If one cannot attend a group meeting or will be late, they must contact a
member of the group. If one cannot fully participate in a team assignment the team must
be notified in adequate time prior to the assignment’s due date. We have agreed to the
following “physical” fines to be paid the following day by the individual who is late by
more than 10 minutes.
