defining success on your terms
A
t The Stribrny Group, we help address the financial needs
of exceptionally accomplished people. Our clients are welleducated individuals who have achieved considerable success, often by
rising to leadership positions in major corporations. They set ambitious
personal and professional goals for themselves, and have high expectations
for their advisors. We are here to help them protect the assets they have
accumulated, and use their wealth to support the people and the causes
that are most important to them.
While investment management is among our core services, we take a far
broader view of our practice. We are committed to building relationships
based on trust. We will work closely with you to define your objectives,
explore the alternatives and choose the strategies that are most appropriate
for you and your family. As this relationship evolves, we hope that you will
come to regard us as your go-to financial advisory team, a valued resource
who can help you make informed decisions on any financial issue.

Our Process
Crafting the holistic wealth management plan.
We believe that the best long-term investment strategies are created through
a disciplined and deliberate process. Our process starts with an in-depth
discussion, helping you translate your personal goals into financial objectives.
We then carefully review your financial and estate planning documents to
achieve a finely nuanced understanding of your personal spreadsheet. We’ll
also take a step back, carefully considering which elements of your current
holdings are well suited to helping you reach your goals.
Before we make a specific investment recommendation, we will present you
with a master plan. We’ll determine an overall asset allocation, and discuss
potential alternatives within it. We’ll create a retirement analysis, and show
you how your current investments may support your other important goals:
estate planning, college planning, charitable intentions and the like.
Moving forward, we maintain an open dialogue. We actively seek updates on
any substantial changes to your goals or circumstances, and keep you informed
on changes in the markets and how they may have impacted your portfolios.
Working with a limited number of select clients, we seek to keep close tabs
on every portfolio, helping our clients keep their investment strategies in line
with their greater life objectives.

Investment Philosophy
A customized approach for the individual investor.
We create fully customized investment plans for a diverse group of clients
with a broad range of financial goals. When we sit down to craft these
plans, however, we always begin with the same question, “What is the
least amount of risk needed to help achieve an acceptably high probability
of reaching this client’s objectives?” In striving to find continually better
answers to this question, we study the practices of institutional investors
to see what we can apply to the benefit of our individual clients.
In the simplest terms, we ask our clients to think in terms of two
asset strategies:
1
2
Where appropriate, we work with our clients
to help build ladders of carefully selected individual securities. Typically, we consider corporate bonds for tax-deferred accounts and
municipal bonds for taxable accounts. When
potential opportunities present themselves,
we may consider, as suitable, relatively small
positions in foreign bonds, preferred stock,
high-yield bonds and other instruments.
We base our growth strategies on the asset
allocations we believe are similar to those used
by a major university endowment fund. In addition to the various potential equity categories,
we would also consider, as suitable, alternative
investments and other securities.

WHY THE STRIBRNY
GROUP WENT BACK
TO SCHOOL
at The Stribrny Group, we are deeply
committed to continually improving the
quality of service and advice we are able
to offer our clients. This commitment
drives us to seek out promising investment
and wealth management strategies that
might be applied to the benefit of our clients.
For example, we noticed that certain major
university endowment funds, such as Yale,
Harvard and Princeton, appeared to have
outperformed the market during the
difficult years from 2000 to 2002. We
poured through their annual reports
and other public records to see what
lessons we could learn. The concepts
we extrapolated helped us rethink our
approach to asset allocation, and look
at a broader range of asset classes than
we had previously considered.
Keep in mind that past performance is
not necessarily indicative of future results
and asset allocation and diversification
do not guarantee a profit or protect against
a loss in a declining market.
This section has been prepared for informational
purposes only. It does not provide individually tailored
investment advice. It has been prepared without
regard to the individual financial circumstances and
objectives of persons who receive it. We recommend
that investors independently evaluate particular
investments and strategies and encourage them
to seek the advice of a Financial Advisor. The
appropriateness of a particular investment or strategy
will depend on an investor’s individual circumstances
and objectives. The examples referenced herein can
form the basis of the strategies discussed. However,
there are significant differences between these
examples and many investors’ accounts including:
transaction sizes, fee structure, time horizon and
tax implications. There is no assurance that these
strategies will achieve their investment objectives.

EXECUTIVE
SERVICES
WEALTH MANAGEMENT AND THE CORPORATE LEADER.
For many of our clients, the financial
rewards of success come in the form
of restricted and control stock, and
stock options. This tends to result in
concentrated stock positions representing
a significant portion of their personal
net worth. It also creates a significant
series of complex investment and wealth
planning issues.
At The Stribrny Group, we are highly
experienced in helping executives, Section
16 officers and corporate directors
balance their investment objectives
with tax and regulatory concerns. We
can help you analyze your options and
6

determine the best ways to help manage
your position — whether through sale
and diversification, custom hedging
and monetization strategies, Rule 144
sales or a 10b5-1 plan.
Understanding that our clients are
busy in their professions and have little
time for managing their finances, our
team provides them with a single source
for advice on investment management,
tax and estate planning. With a full open
investment platform, we provide access
to the extraordinary depth and breadth
of resources needed to address any
financial challenge.

varying types of revenues and assets advised by the financial professional,
