December 2014
From Pastor Ron
Merry Christmas – it seems that
every year, there’s another
complaint about saying those
words. Maybe you’re like me and
want to SCREAM – “STOP IT –
Christmas is about CHRISTCOMING.” Oh, that’s right,
we’ve forgotten that a modern-day
Christmas is about selling
merchandise, and having parties,
and going into debt trying to
out-do gift-giving with someone
else. In our collective contemporary wisdom, we’ve made the
holiday “BETTER??????” by
saying “HAPPY HOLIDAYS” and
less offensive???? Really?
NO WAY!!! It’s not HAPPY
HOLIDAYS but MERRY
CHRISTMAS.
What if we agreed to bold
“MERRY CHRISTMAS”ers?
No longer silent, intentionally,
everywhere we go, to every store
clerk greeting with “MERRY
CHRISTMAS”. Sounds like a plan
to me!!!! Let’s see how we can
change the culture with our
actions and words!
‘Twas a humble birthplace, but
O how much God gave to us
that day
From the manger bed what
a path has led, What a perfect,
holy way.
Alleluia! O how the angels
snag. Alleluia, How it rang!
Ron Zamkus, Senior Pastor
Christmas is a birthday celebration
and here are the lyrics to a familiar
song:
“In the little village of
Bethlehem, There lay a Child one
day,
And the sky was bright with a
holy light, o’er the place where
Jesus lay.
Alleluia! O how the angels
sang. Alleluia, How it rang!
And the sky was bright with a
holy light, ‘Twas the birthday of a
king.”
And the sky was bright
with a holy light, ‘Twas the
birthday of a king.
(CCLI license #93872)
Merry CHRISTMAS! Christ is
Born! Our Savior has come to
set us free from our sins and
restore us to God the Father.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I love you and am so thrilled to
be a part of this group of
believers. You are my family.

Merry Christmas!
God’s richest blessings on you
And your family during this season
Come listen to The Southridge Worship Choir as they sing at “Living Windows”
Downtown (Madison and High Streets) on December 5th starting at 6 pm,
or join us at the Jefferson City Nursing Rehabilitation Center on December 7th
starting at 2:00 pm, and I hope you will invite a neighbor or friend to attend our
program at the church on December 14th at 10:00 am
Our church wide caroling this year does not conflict with any other activity going on (which says a lot for as busy as we all get). If you
are not familiar with what that is – We get in cars and go sing Christmas carols to folks who are unable to attend worship services anymore – be it for health or shut in for other reasons. It’s a great time of fellowship and we are not looking for high quality singers – just
folks that enjoy getting together and sharing an evening with people who don’t see a lot of company throughout the year. This will happen on December 21st at 5:00 p.m.
ADDRESS:
One highlight for many from Southridge is our Christmas Eve candlelight Service. Since
December 24th falls on a weekday (Wednesday). Our time will begin at 6:00 p.m. that night.
Hope to see you there.
