A MEMORABLE EVENING
On October 17, 2015, we welcomed the legendary artist Robert Irwin to Houston
for a talk with Michael Govan, director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Their warm, irreverent conversation about their history of working together at
thrilled Houston audiences and continues to garner views on our Youtube channel.
Robert Irwin is regarded as the central artist of the L.A.-based “Light and Space”
movement in the 1960s. He designed the architecture and grounds of Dia: Beacon
Center for the Arts; and the lush Central Gardens for the Getty Center in Los
Angeles, California.

I laughed, I cried...it was perfect. And easily one of the best nights
I've ever had. - Kate Bellin, Kate Bellin Contemporary
Last night's lecture was a smashing success! It was funny and intellectually engaging, a near impossible combination, and had the audience's full attention from the first to the last minute. So many art
world patrons were there - I can't imagine a better promotion.
- Alison Weaver, Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University
I wish you could hear the conversation in the van heading back to
school. "How could art, landscape and architecture all be the same
thing?! MY MIND IS BLOWN" They enjoyed it oh so much, as did I.
- Ally Wallace, YES Prep

The YouTube conversation between Michael Govan and Robert Irwin
is a gift that will keep on giving. I learned and learned so many
things from each of them that I feel like I completed a college course.
Nice, nice, nice. - Camille Lyons
