Oaktree is one of Australia’s fastest growing and most dynamic international aid and development organisations. Entirely run by young volunteers under the age of 26, Oaktree has over 100,000 members around Australia and has led some of Australia’s biggest poverty campaigns- including the 2006 MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY Concert in Melbourne, and the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY Roadtrip campaigns in 2007 and 2010 which succeeded in securing bipartisan commitment to increasing foreign aid to $4.3 billion. In 2010, we were awarded the International Youth Leadership Award for MDG action by the United Nations in New York and, in 2007 we were presented with the prestigious ‘Free Your Mind’ award at the MTV Music Awards • Our revolutionary fundraising and awareness campaign Live Below the Line has raised over $2 million for fighting poverty in under 18 months. • We’ve raised over $3.5 million to provide education to some of the most disadvantaged communities in the world – including building schools in East Timor, teacher training in Papua New Guinea, vocational training for freed slaves in Ghana and HIV/Aids education in South Africa. 2012-2013 QLD Roadtrip Logistics Coordinator Job outline Working with some of the best young leaders in your state, the QLD Roadtrip Logistic Coordinator’s role is to ensure the smooth operational running of the QLD Roadtrip, as part of the movement to end extreme poverty. Specifically, the QLD Roadtrip Logistic Coordinator is responsible for: • • • • • Key Performance Indicators Characteristics and skills required What you get out of it Organising the logistics of a Roadtrip for a number of 80 people Managing a Roadtrip logistics team Overseeing Roadtrip execution including transport, accommodation, catering, site management, and venues. Creating and deciding on the Roadtrip itinerary, including liaising with the QLD Route Coordinator to coordinate campaign actions. Managing relationships with key external stakeholders, councils, venues and companies. • • • Logistical success of the road trip Development of a cohesive, effective and dynamic team Adequacy of support provided to participants including safety, food, warmth, shelter, welfare etc. • • • • • • • Interest and understanding of issues of poverty, sustainability and global justice Excellent communication skills High level of personal organisation and efficiency Excellent project management and people management skills Willingness to take personal responsibility and use initiative to solve problems Vision and passion Integrity and humility • • Experience in leadership and managing a team in the non-profit sector Training in strategic planning, professional administration processes, external engagement, people management and task management Opportunity to be involved in one of Australia’s leading campaigning organisations Personal development in a supportive and challenging environment Opportunity to have a significant positive impact on the fight against extreme poverty The chance to work with other incredibly passionate and skilled young Australians and establish life long friendships whilst having fun! • • • • Time commitment 7-10 hours per week. By virtue of this role hours may fluctuate during peak times. You will need to be available for Whole Team Meetings every fortnight on Wednesday evening from 7-8.30pm. You will need to commit to this role until the end of March 2013 and you will need to be available to work on the campaign over the 2012-2013 Summer holidays.
