Reporting of Grades
Students can self-report their grades for conditional acceptance
IB Credit Information
IB minimum score of 24. Students with a score of 30 or higher will receive
30 hours of university credit. Students who do not possess the IB diploma
will be given individual credit for IB courses completed at the higher level
with grades 5, 6, or 7. For complete IB admission guidelines please visit

An official AP transcript is required for evaluation process. Credit is
awarded at grades 3, 4, 5 which is course specific. A maximum of 30 credit
hours is awarded.

Students who do not meet the English Proficiency Requirements may take
our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to then bridge into their

RESIDENCE INFORMATION
11 residence buildings ranging in size from 74-264 residents. Each
residence is centrally located on campus within minutes of classrooms,
laboratories, and student centers. Residence offers a mix of double rooms,
basic and deluxe single rooms and suites. Special interest sections and
residences include Women only, upper years, alcohol free and quiet.

Grade 11 & Grade 12 admission average of at least 80%
Based on academic average, students with a minimum 80% average or
higher are automatically considered for an Acadia Grade-Based Entrance

TOEFL: Unless at least one year of full-time studies have been completed
in English, we require proof of proficiency in English, such as a TOEFL
score. We expect a minimum TOEFL score of 580 (paper based), 237
(computer based), or 90 (Internet based). A minimum of 85 is normally
required for M.E.L.A.B. and 6.5 for I.E.L.T.S. In the absence of English
proficiency proofs you may be denied admission (text deleted here).
For students who are below the minimum English proficiency requirements,
Bishop’s offers a 30-credit certificate in English as a Second Language.
This program can be started in the fall (September) semester or the winter
(January) semester. Admission can be requested via the online application
at www.gobishops.ca.

It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that Brock receives the most
up-to-date grades.
Students who are granted an IB diploma may be considered for admission,
and may receive up to 3.0 transfer credits on the basis of higher-level
subjects completed with a grade of five or better.
If a student has completed Advanced Placement course with an
examination grade of four, they may be eligible to receive a maximum of
2.0 Brock credits.

Brock Scholars Awards are available to all incoming year-one students
with an admission average of 80% or higher. Each year multiple students
are selected to enter the prestigious Brock Leaders Citizenship Society.
Over 150 Donor scholarships are available with a combined value of over
$500,000.
No application is required for Brock Scholars Awards.
Applications for Brock Leaders Citizenship Society or Donor awards are
due March 29, 2013.
Brock Scholars Awards are awarded automatically. Criteria for Donor
scholarships vary by award. To be eligible for all Donor awards, students
should fill out our universal entrance application. The Brock Leaders

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Last year more than 11,500 scholarships and bursaries totaling over $16.2
million were awarded to undergraduate students.
High school students who are admitted to Carleton University with an
admission average of 80 per cent or better will automatically be considered
for a renewable Entrance Scholarship. No additional application is required.
Entrance Scholarships are renewable over the first 4 years of an
undergraduate degree with A- standing (10.0 annual GPA). If lost one year,
scholarship may be regained at its original value with a return to A- standing.
Students with a 90% admission average and extracurricular activities are
eligible for one of our Prestige Scholarships. Applications are due March 1.

WHAT’S NEW
The Bachelor of Arts program in Child Studies, which was originally developed specifically for
graduates of Early Childhood Education (ECE), now has a direct-entry program for those without
an ECE diploma. The deadline for application is March 1.
The name of the Bachelor of Arts program in Cognitive Science (Honours) has been changed to
Bachelor of Cognitive Science (Honours) or BCogSc (Honours).
The Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) program now offers an Algorithms stream.
Varsity football will be returning to Carleton in 2013. Stadium upgrades and the
construction of new football facilities will take place on campus in time for the kickoff to
the 2013 season.

Students must have official transcripts sent from their school to Concordia. They are
also encouraged to upload transcripts to their application to expedite the admissions
process. A student may gain conditional admission based on the unofficial transcripts
uploaded to their file.
Students holding a full IB Diploma with 27 points meet the minimum admission
requirements and will be granted advanced placement. Depending on the program,
minimum points for entry will vary and completion of Higher Level Math and Sciences
may be required.
Students who have successfully passed AP examinations in appropriate subjects with a
grade of “3” or better may be granted some advanced standing.

New Research Centres:
• Centre for Clinical Research in Health (CCRH) in the Psychology Department: is devoted to the study of the
psychosocial determinants of physical and mental health with particular attention to research on the causation,
prevention, and treatment of physical and mental health problems.
• Centre for Microscopy at Concordia (CMAC): MAC promotes interdisciplinary research and state-of-the-art
facilities to train undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows. Current research
activities include: metabolic engineering of pharmaceuticals; molecular mechanisms of aging; learning and
memory; and autism spectrum disorders to list but a few.
• Centre for Sensory Studies (CSS): The main goal of the CSS is to foster interdisciplinary study of sensory
perception, aesthetics, marketing and communication.
• Centre for Iranian Studies: The Centre for Iranian Studies seeks to enhance collaborative research and
graduate training opportunities in the broad field of Iranian Studies.

Ed Meagher Arena
With funding from the Quebec government and Concordia, the Ed Meagher arena on Concordia’s Loyola campus will
undergo reconstruction and redevelopment to bring it up to NHL standards.
The City Farm School
In keeping with Concordia’s goal of being an ecologically aware, economically responsible, and socially equitable
institution, The Concordia Greenhouse Project founded the City Farm School last year, a practical training program
and speaker series on urban agriculture. Aside from a training program and workshops on urban agriculture, this
initiative makes fresh produce readily available to the community at their weekly garden market on the Loyola Campus.

school courses must be completed by the end of June, students planning

Students may be admitted based on Grade 11 marks. Mid-year grade 12
transcripts must be received by March 1 for applications to be considered
for scholarship. All students admitted on Grade 11 or Mid-year Grade 12
marks must have final transcripts sent during the summer.
International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma students must have at least three
higher level courses with a minimum score of four in each higher level and
standard level subject undertaken with an overall score of 28 (excluding
bonus points). IB diploma candidates may qualify for up to 30 transfer
credits. IB certificate students who complete higher level courses with a
score of five or higher will have those courses assessed for transfer credits.
Students completing subjects in the Advanced Placement program will be
assessed for transfer credits on subjects completed at a level of 4 or 5 for a
maximum of 18 credits.

Ryerson offers three on-campus residences. Pitman Hall is a traditional style 14-storey residence that
houses 566 students primarily in single bedrooms. The International Living/Learning Centre (ILC) is
a former 11-storey hotel that houses 252 students in extra-large single rooms with ensuite bathroom.
O’Keefe House is a 33-student residence with double and triple occupancy rooms. There is a large
communal kitchen onsite. Meal plans are mandatory for Pitman Hall and the ILC.
TBA (typically late May or early June); applications are available online May 1.
Residence is not guaranteed. Priority is given to first-year students coming directly from secondary
school whose permanent address is the furthest distance from Toronto. When the number of applicants
exceeds the number of spaces, a priority sequence waiting list is generated. Applicants must be
accepted into a full-time undergraduate program to be eligible for residence.

Students cannot self-report grades. They must request their guidance
counselor send us a copy of their transcript by mail or fax.
StFX will offer up to 18 transfer credits for completing the IB diploma with a
minimum overall score of 24 points and a minimum grade of 5, 6 or 7 in
higher-level courses only. StFX may also grant advanced standing to
students who have taken higher-level subjects with a score of 5, 6 or 7 but
who did not complete the diploma program. Please contact Brittany Landry
with any addition questions.
Applicants who have complete Advanced Placement courses with a score
of 3 or higher are eligible to receive advanced standing.
IELTS minimum score: 6.5
TOEFL minimum scores: 580 (paper-based), 236 (computer-based), 92
(internet-based). If a student completes the final two years of high school
English with a 65% average (in both courses), they are exempt from writing
an English proficiency test.

StFX is a community-oriented campus with 16 residences, ranging from
single gendered to co-ed, and single or double rooms; apartment and suite
style available for upper-year students.

Students applying for early fall admission must self report their
grade 11 grades and provide a list of grade 12 classes. Once
midterm or first semester grade 12 finals become available,
students must submit an official transcript for scholarship
consideration.
Students applying by the March 1st deadline must submit a copy of
their midterm grades or their first semester, grade 12 finals.
To be eligible for admission, students who complete the full Diploma must
receive a minimum of 26 points in addition to meeting the minimum
admission requirements for their program. IB students who have completed
Higher Level subjects with a result of 5, 6 or 7 may be eligible for university
credit. We also offer a second year credit to Theory of Knowledge students
who receive a C or better.
Students may be eligible for university credit for AP courses in which a
national exam result of 4 or 5 is achieved.
TOEFL of 90 on iBT (or 237 on the computer-based test, 580 on the paperbased-test), MELAB (81), or IELTS (6.5)
RESIDENCE INFORMATION
274 beds in total; 62 of these are in single rooms.
Students have the choice between co-ed, all female or all male.
Alexandra Hall has traditional dorm style single and double rooms,
while ‘The Bays” are either semi-private or single rooms.
Students can apply online once they have been admitted to King’s.
Residence spaces are not guaranteed and are considered on a
first-come, first-served basis. As a result, there is no deadline.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Entrance scholarships range from $1000 to $9000 and are typically
awarded for one year only.
King’s provides a strong in course programme. Awards range from
$1000 to $6000 for students in their upper years. Students with a
GPA of 3.7 or better are considered.

All students who have an admission average of at least 88% and
who have submitted three copies of an academic essay (signed by
a teacher) will be considered for entrance scholarships.
The essay submission should be a piece of analytical writing that
was completed for a senior level class. Students typically submit an
essay written for an English, History, Philosophy or Political Science
class.
King’s does not offer a guaranteed scholarship program.

High school graduation in a university entrance program with a minimum
average of 60% over four grade 12 courses including a minimum average of 70%
over the top three grade 12 university preparatory courses, and a minimum final
grade of 60% in grade 12 English.
BC provincial exams are not required to be considered for admission. If a
student chooses to write a provincial exam, the blended final percentage will be
considered.

Two new Direct Entry Program options have been added to the available entry options for first
year students. Most students will continue to enter through University 1 - a unique direct entry
approach to first year university, creating a solid foundation for student success. U1 is designed

Students who are awarded an International Baccalaureate Diploma may be awarded
up to 30 credit hours of transfer credit upon receipt of the official transcript from
the International Baccalaureate headquarters. A minimum overall score of 24 is
required with 3 higher lever subjects and 3 subsidiary subjects with no course below

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Each year UVic awards over $2.5 million in entrance scholarships to students arriving
directly from high school; over 100 different types are available.
To be eligible for all academic entrance scholarships, students must self-report their
final or current/predicted grade 12 marks in the subjects required for their faculty or
program at http://uvic.ca/selfreporting. The self-reporting period opens February 1 and
closes March 31.
For students who apply for “scholarships based on grades and other specific criteria”
(outlined below), the 2012 deadline was mid-May. Please refer to the updated deadline

- Students’ admission average in the required grade 12 subjects is the sole basis
for grade-based entrance scholarships
- For entrance scholarships based on grades and other criteria, students’
admission average is evaluated, along with the submission of an online
scholarship application. Marks and other criteria such as community work,
extra-curricular activities, field of study, and volunteerism may be considered.
- For September 2012 entry, current graduating high school students following a
Canadian curriculum who had a minimum 85% final admission average in the
required subjects received a $1,000 entrance scholarship.
- For September 2012 entry, those who had a minimum 90% final admission
average in the required subjects received the $2,000 Come-to-Campus grant.
- IB students with 32 points or higher on diploma receive a minimum $2000
entrance scholarship.
WHAT’S NEW
UVic is now the only university in BC to offer a Biomedical Engineering program as of September 2012.
UVic is also expected to offer a Civil Engineering major, whose first intake should take place in September 2013.
This program is currently in final stages of approval by BC Ministry of Advanced Education.

WHAT’S NEW
New program: Health Promotion. Students interested in the health and well-being of entire communities can study how
political, cultural, and economic conditions influence health. Students learn how to enable people and organizations to
improve health through education, marketing, policy, mediation, and advocacy. Note: Prospective students are advised that
offers of admission to Health Promotion will may be made only after the university's own quality assurance processes have
been completed and the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance has approved the program. Waterloo has approved
the program and we’re just waiting for Council approval.
Program and prerequisite changes
• Accounting and Financial Management now requires a minimum grade of at least 70% in each of 4U
Advanced Functions and 4U Calculus and Vectors.
• The Geography and Environmental Management program is now available only through our Faculty of
Environment. It was previously offered through the Faculty of Arts.
• Independent Studies now requires one year of university or two years of college studies for admission.
Home to the largest concentration of quantum researchers in the world, the new $160 million Mike &
Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre is the most complex building constructed at Waterloo.
Researchers are working at the atomic scale and harnessing the quantum laws of nature to develop
powerful technologies that will transform information technology. The Centre will house the Institute for
Quantum Computing and Canada’s largest Nanotechnology Engineering program.

IB/AP Credit Information VIU recognizes the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced
Placement Program (APP). Under certain conditions, students
presenting higher level credentials will receive university level credit,
as follows:
Applicants who submit IB courses at the higher level with grades
of 5 or better, and/or APP courses with grades of 4 or better, will
be eligible for introductory-level University course credit. Courses
with grades lower than noted will not be eligible for credit or
advanced standing.
A maximum of 30 credits will be awarded for IB/APP courses.
Where appropriate, specific course equivalency will be granted;
unassigned credit will be given where specific equivalency is not

Applicants to Western are required to write the BC Provincial Exams for English

Ministry of Education 2004 Graduate Program. If you choose to write an optional

Laurier has 2 undergraduate campuses in Waterloo & Brantford, which offer 5 faculties including Arts,
Science, Music, the School of Business & Economics, and Education. In addition we offer double degrees

Basic Admissions Requirements
Four academic courses at the Grade 12 level, including English 12 at a minimum of 60%; academic courses do

The minimum average for consideration to all Laurier programs is 70%. Competitive entry programs and double
degree programs will require a higher admission average which can be found in the chart starting on page 20.
Final cut-off averages will be set in May 2012.

Students will be AUTOMATICALLY considered for alternate offers of admission. Students are encouraged to
only apply once. Changes to alternate offers can be made directly to the admissions office.

Transfer credits will be considered for all higher level courses completed with a minimum score of 5, for both
diploma and certificate applicants, subject to applicability to the program offered.
AP Credit Information
Credits are awarded on case-by-case basis, with a minimum grade of 4, up to a maximum of 3.0 credits.
English Proficiency Requirements
TOEFL- paper test 560, internet-based test overall score of 83 with a minimum of 20 in each component,
IELTS- 6.5, MELAB 85, CAEL- 70, with no part below 60, Pearson Test of Language Proficiency – 59.
Students who do not present a test of English proficiency can pursue English language studies through the
Laurier English and Academic Foundation (LEAF) Program - a five-level program designed to prepare students

required for all residence students.

Citizenship (Waterloo Campus)
Students will learn to think critically about their faith, the world, and their place in it. Effective communication,

some of the outcomes of this program. Students will have the opportunity for international study experiences.
Minor in Education (Waterloo Campus)
The Minor in Education is designed to provide students with a supplemental course of study focusing on
schooling and education. Students have the opportunity to bundle elective courses within their current
programs of study into a Minor in Education. Courses taken in the minor may not count toward fulfilling
requirements for the teaching specialization ("teachable") at the Junior/Intermediate level.
