Course No.: Literature 1 Credit: 3 units Course Title: Philippine Literature Pre-requisites : None Course Description : This course focuses on the literature of all the regions of the Philippines whether written in native of foreign languages. It aims to foster understanding of Filipino culture and appreciation of Filipino writers’ creative expression of their experiences as they relate not only to other Filipinos but also to the rest of the world. IV. Course Objectives : At the end of the course, the students can: A. Cognitive (Knowledge): 1. Identify the 13 regions of the Philippines and some the literary traditions that developed in each region. 2. Describe selected regional writers. 3. Describe the different literary genres and explain their elements. 4. Discuss the elements of some literary selections from each region. 5. Make an interpretative critiquing of selected literary pieces. B. Affective (Attitude): 1. Appreciate the breadth and depth of the Philippine Literature including the efforts exerted by the authors. 2. Sustain interest in the analysis of some literary selections. 3. Form sound judgment in interpreting or critiquing these selections. C. Psychomotor (Skills): 1. Write summaries of some selected selections. 2.
