2016 Grand National Event/Tour Descriptions
For all events and tours, you must be preregistered and have the appropriate tour ticket to gain admission.
Tours are handicap-accessible venues.
Check with front or bell desk for local rentals of assistive equipment. Be aware that
Las Vegas takes a lot of walking. Know your
abilities. Always stop to rest and hydrate, as
our humidity is usually very low.
Comfortable shoes are suggested. Check the
information booth and your GN book for
additional information and updates.
SUNDAY, APRIL 10
11th Annual Las Vegas Cadillac
Through The Years—Our car show,
sponsored by Findlay Cadillac and the Las
Vegas Region, will be held at The District
at Green Valley Ranch. Note: This is a
location change. Arrive early this week
and warm up for the Grand National.
It is just a fun day to enjoy Cadillacs
and meet everyone. Free to look. Fee
to display.
MONDAY, APRIL 11
There are no formal scheduled CLC events.
Enjoy the hotel and the southern Nevada
area. Suggestions at front or bell desk and
with your registration confirmation.
TUESDAY, APRIL 12
Valley of Fire Driving Tour—Valley of
Fire, located approximately 60 miles
northeast of Las Vegas, is named for the
magnificent red sandstone formations
formed from great shifting sand dunes
during the age of the dinosaurs more
than 150 million years ago. It was the
favorite part of the 2012 National Driving
Tour. Bring your own snacks/lunch or
purchase food when we stop at Moapa
Tribal Enterprises store and casino—an
adventure in itself. No car? We will match
you with a ride.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13
Bus Tour 1, The Strip/Atomic Museum/
Rat Pack Lunch—We cruise the Las
Vegas Strip to The National Atomic
Testing Museum, an affiliate of the
Smithsonian Institution. The museum
preserves and presents exhibits that
describe the U.S. Nuclear Age, the impact
on the Cold War and also features UFOs
and aliens of secret Area 51. After our
private tour with former Test Site employees, we head to lunch at a place where
the Rat Pack played, which has a golf history museum and was one of the sites
where the movie “Casino” was filmed.
Tech Sessions—These always have
interesting speakers. Check your final
schedule on arrival for details.
Wednesday.
Fifth Annual Gathering of the
Cadillac Queens—This ladies-only event
Bus Tour 5, Fremont Street
Experience and the Mob Museum—
led by Marsha Redman is a chance to
meet the women attending the Grand
National. If this is your first or 10th
Grand National, you will want to be here!
“Viva LaS Cadillac” Welcome
Reception/CLC Museum Auction is the
official kickoff of the 2016 Grand National
Meet. Celebrate the ’60s with food, entertainment and drinks. Auctioneer Richard
Dormois will lead the live auction benefiting the museum.
This will be an opportunity to tour where
Las Vegas started, enjoy people-watching
and grab dinner. We then gather for a
private tour of the Mob Museum to learn
the history of the organized crime and
influence in Las Vegas and the world.
What happens this evening stays here!
Dinner is on your own. Save some room
for dessert at the museum, a top Las
Vegas tour destination. Go to the website
and find your mob name!
THURSDAY, APRIL 14
Bus Tour 2, The Linq; and Bus Tour
2, The Linq and The Auto Collections
at The Linq—The tour has something for
everyone, including access to the Las
Vegas Strip, the High Roller Observation
Wheel (tallest in the world), shopping,
great food and even cars. The Auto
Collections is “history on wheels,” featuring more than 250 antique, muscle,
famous and historically significant cars,
including Marilyn Monroe’s and Jayne
Mansfield’s Cadillacs. The collection is
worth more than $100 million. You will
have time to enjoy the cars, Linq area and
lunch on your own.
Bus Tour 3, Maloof and Heinrich
Collections—This tour takes you to rare
private collections, where you will see
more than 75 cars at each location. The
first includes rare Corvettes and other
GMs and Fords as well as memorabilia.
Our own member Uncle Phil’s incredible
collection includes V-16s and other
Cadillacs, Duesenbergs, Rolls-Royces,
Lincolns and his favorite, the 1941
Cadillac—all perfectly preserved. Lunch
near an infamous Cadillac/mob location.
Bus Tour 4, Nostalgia Street Rods
and Hollywood Cars—If you just like
cars, this is a tour of some unique automobile collections. We tour longtime Las
Vegas resident Art Goldstrum’s collection
and memorabilia. The Hollywood Cars
Museum includes opportunities for
patrons to see the workshop of “Hollywood
Jay,” whose legendary creations include
cars for “RoboCop,” “Back To The Future,”
“The Flintstones,” and a pink hot tub convertible limo, which was profiled on
“Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.”
Swap Meet—Find your favorite
Cadillac and LaSalle memorabilia and parts.
