Included organizing permitting, travel and housing; hiring field assistant, 4WD vehicle and generator; all aspects of field operations; preservation and packing of specimens; curation of specimens. 8/11 White Sands National Monument, NM Member of field crew collecting arthropods for comparative bio‐blast grant between Cuatro Cienegas, Mexico and White Sands, NM. 1/11‐6/11 Tambopata Nature Preserve, Peru Planned field biology course trip for UNM undergraduates, including permitting, travel and housing, field operations, coursework implementation and grading, and supervision of field collection activities. Cuatro Cienegas and Baja, Mexico and NM, USA 5/10‐7/10 Member of field crew collecting arthropods for comparative bio‐blast grant between Cuatro Cienegas, Mexico and White Sands, NM. Planned and conducted collections work in Baja, Mexico, including permitting, car insurance, budgeting, and route planning. Funded by the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Grant for work in the field. Teaching Assistant/Graduate Assistant/Research Assistant UNM Biology Dept., Albuquerque, NM 8/09‐present As teaching assistant complete assigned duties for lab or discussion sections of various undergraduate biology courses; to date I have taught Cell Biology, Discovering Non‐Insect Arthropods, and General Invertebrate Zoology. Develop lab lesson plans, collect/order materials for labs, attend meetings and class lectures as required. Grade assignments and tests and maintain gradebook of student scores. As graduate assistant plan Field Biology trip to Peru for the Kelly Miller Molecular Lab, including travel, accommodations, vehicle rentals, generator acquisition, permitting, and disposition of specimens as well as TA duties for the course itself. As research assistant complete all aspects of DNA research from extraction to PCR to sequencing, as well as sequence editing and alignment. Visitor Services Facilitator Explora Science Museum, Albuquerque, NM 12/07‐7/09 Maintain supplies and appearance of fully interactive exhibits. Assist public with their interactions with the exhibits. Handle live animals and educate visitors about same. Animal care and habitat maintenance. Propose new exhibits and improvements to existing exhibits; proposal for decomposition exhibit was approved and is now a permanent part of the museum. Graduate Student University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM 1/08‐5/09 Completed 22 credits of coursework in preparation for Fall, 2009 application to PhD program in biology. Substitute Teacher Menaul School, Albuquerque, NM 2/06‐11/07 All aspects of substitute teaching including teaching, grading, attendance, discipline, and other supervisory and classroom maintenance tasks. Offered full‐time position but turned down after deciding to return to school. Amphitheater High School, Tucson, AZ 10th Grade World History Teacher/Asst. Swim Coach 6/03‐8/04 Teaching Responsibilities: Obtaining and maintaining teaching certificate. All aspects of teaching including planning and teaching lessons in history and geography, ordering supplies, grading, parent contact, and meeting attendance. All aspects of classroom climate and discipline. Coaching Responsibilities: All aspects of assistant coaching including helping to plan workouts, supervising warm ups, workouts, meets, and locker room, and obtaining and maintaining CPR and First Aid certificates.
