ESAD does not operate student housing of its own. Foreign students should, therefore,
rent a flat and share with other students (more freedom and flexibility) or private
rooms usually available for students, according to their needs. Foreign students will be
offered assistance in finding suitable accommodation by theStudents’ Association or
the ESAD Administration Services. Student’s room or houses are normally paid by the
month and a deposit of one month paid in advance is a normal procedure. An
individual room will cost around 150 to 250 euros including water electricity facilities.
You can also contact the Universitary Residence World SPRU. The Erasmus Association
can also help you.
Consult also the website ESN Porto
Students can also look for temporary accommodation at the Youth Hostel (Pousada da
Juventude) at Rua Paulo da Gama, 550. P 4169–006 Porto, located in a very nice

ECTS
The European Credit Transfer System is used by Italilan universities to evaluate and
measure the workload teaching hours and the higher education effort of every single
course. Credits also measure the student workload which is required to pass the
examination and include class attendance, classwork, laboratory work and individual
study. It is also possible to obtain credits for other training courses, or project works
or theses, internships, foreign languages, basic computing skills, training in
communication and public relations and group work. One credit corresponds to a
workload of about 25 hours and the yearly workload for an average study course
corresponds to about 60 credits.
Each subject is assigned a number of credits which the student obtains when he
passes the final examination. Exams are graded using a grading scale of 30, where 18
is the minimum passing grade and 30 cum laude the highest grade.

Accomodation
HOUSING
The International Office of CUAS supports all the international students in organizing
housing. Regular international students can also contact the administrative assistant
of the relative FH-site where lists of possible accommodation facilities are available.
The average monthly costs of rooms vary between EUR 220.00 and € 300.00 and for
a small apartment from EUR 300.00 up to € 400.00. A standard rental contract is
signed for a minimum period of three years. A deposit in the range from one to three
monthly rents is standard procedure in Austria. When you move into your new room
or apartment, we recommend you take photos to document the state of the property.
This may help you get back your deposit afterwards, in case the landlord claims
money for renovation or repairs. The possibility of terminating the contract is written
in the contract and mostly you have to respect a 2- or 3–month notice period to the
end of a month.
You have to pay punctually on the agreed day of payment each month.Rents normally
include “Betriebskosten“ (utilities), but extra costs for electricity have to be paid
additionally each month.
If you arrive too late in the evening to get into your reserved room, we suggest you
spend the night in a youth hostel (cost: approx. EUR 16.-).
INTERNATIONAL DORMITORY IN VILLACH
The dormitory is situated n the Robert Musil Strasse in Villach. In order to reach the
university te students have to use bus no. 11 to the main train station and then
change busses and take line no. 3 to “Technologie Park”.
The monthly rent is EUR 240.-/month all inclusive as long as rooms are available.
There are only single rooms furnished with a table, bed, wardrobe and chair with a
bathroom for each 3 roommates and a kitchen for 12 students on each floor. In the
building there is a possibility to wash your clothes in the caller. There is also a free
internet access for CUAS students. Upon arival each student signs an agreement with
the landlord and has to pay a deposit of EUR 500.- which will be returned to the
students after they leave the room.

Students have a big hoice of renting appartments in the neighbourhood or they can
stay at the IKU dormitories located in one of the campuses.
Dormitories
The dormitories at Kültür University aim to give the students a clean, comfortable,
secure and civilized atmosphere which enables them to reach their goals. Social and
cultural activities organized in the dormitories also contribute to their success.
Our dormitories are located in Şirivevler Campus which is within a 15-minute-walking
distance from Ataköy Campus. For those who do not fancy walking there is also a
shuttle every 20 minutes, making it possible to attend the classes on time. Our
dormitories are only a 5-minute-walk from Yenibosna Metrobus and bus stops while
the subway is only 10 minutes away. It takes only 10 minutes to reach Atatürk Airport
by taxi and you can arrive at the bus terminal in 30 minutes by subway.
The dormitories are equipped with psychological consultancy units which help students
adapt themselves to their new lives and overcome various problems as well.
All the rooms are furnished with a bed, wardrobe, bedside table, desk, telephone and
24-hour Internet connection.
The rooms are meticulously cleaned every single day. Seats, hot and cold water
dispensers, kitchen, showers (24-hour hot water) and toilets are available on every
floor.
Restrooms (satellite TVs), internet rooms, launderettes (free washing machines and
14
tumble dry), studies, separate study halls with drawing tables for architecture
students are also available.
There is also a kitchen for the common use of students on every floor.
