AP Government Schedule- Unit I
The Constitution, Civil Liberties and Civil Rights
Unit Goals:
Students will be able to analyze and explain the Constitutional Underpinning of the United States
Government including the considerations that influenced the design and adoption of the Constitution,
separation of powers, checks and balances, Federalism and theories of democratic government.
Students will be able to analyze and explain the development of civil liberties and civil rights by
judicial interpretation, know, understand and evaluate substantive rights and liberties, and be able to
explain the impact of the Fourteenth Amendment on the development of rights and liberties.
