Volume 22 Issue 16 September 16, 2015 Inside This Issue: Fall University of Christian Living 2 Staff Anniversaries 2 Joy Singers 2 Children’s Ministry 3 Sympathy 3 Thanks 3 Calendar 4 New Members 4 As a church family, we are embarking on a journey through the New Testament together. As we read together, it is our hope and prayer that the living God will speak to our hearts, minds and lives. Through the discipline of reading the New Testament over the next 75 days, we may also create a new habit of studying scripture or deepen our already existing habit. To help us read together, we have a plan for reading scripture six days each week. The seventh day allows time to digest what we have read or to catch up on anything we missed. There is a printed plan, a downloadable PDF and a free iOs app (links are on our website). There is also an abbreviated reading plan for kids. We will have an opportunity to hear the insight of others as we read together through a blog on our website. You may also want to be intentional about discussing what you have been reading with your family or Bible study group. I am confident that we will grow through this exercise because I am confident that God speaks through scripture, when we make ourselves available to listen. I am excited about our church reading the New Testament together over the next 75 days! This is the proven and effective way of making the gospel make sense to the unsaved. Study Guide - $5 The Mingling of Souls - Led by Susan Petray Room 104 The Song of Solomon offers strikingly candid - and timeless - insights on romance, dating, marriage, and sex. We need it. Because emotions rise and fall with a single glance, touch, kiss, or word. And we are inundated with songs, movies, and advice that contradicts God's design for love and intimacy. Matt Chandler helps navigate these issues for both singles and marrieds by revealing the process Solomon himself followed: Attraction, Courtship, Marriage ... even Arguing. The Mingling of Souls will forever change how you view and approach love. Study Guide - $10 Student Minister Input Sessions We will have input sessions to hear from adults and youth as we move forward in our search for our next student minister. The Personnel Committee is recommending a shifting of staff responsibilities for our preschool and children’s ministry. It is recommended that the vacant staff position be focused solely on Children’s Ministry (grades K-5) and our ministry to preschoolers be combined with our Early Learning Center (weekday preschool), with current ELC Director, Tricia Haddad, becoming our Director of ELC and Preschool Ministry. There will be no additional budget funds necessary for the change. This recommendation will be presented to the church for approval at the September 27 Church Conference.
