Moonstruck (Deluxe Edition) Max From the President Where did the year go? 2015 was a difficult year. Cragsmoor mourned as we lost some beloved members of our community, and we rejoiced as new ones were born or celebrated momentous changes to their lives. The end of the year is also time to take stock of what we value most. We, the Board of Trustees, hope you value the part that the Library has played in your own life and that of your community. We hope that you signify the importance of that value with your tax-deductible contribution to the Library before the end of the year. Happy holidays and a joyful new year! -Richard Hartz From the Director Here we are going into the last month of the year! It is a fun- and beauty-filled one. We start out the month’s fun with ONZE on December 5, at 71 Old Inn Road, 7 pm. The 12th brings the Cookie Walk at the Library from 9 am to 3 pm. Bakers, please bring your favorites to sell, then check out the tasty talents of others. We’ll also have crafts, poinsettias and premium amaryllis kits for sale, as well as a small Fancy Flea. The Library will be decked out in its holiday finery! At 5 pm it’s the Tree Lighting at the Post Office, then the Annual Holiday Party at the festively decorated Firehouse, a great event for the whole family that combines food, fun, caroling and libations. On Saturday, December 19, we’ll have Holiday Crafts for Kids at 11 am. Call or just come, it’s always fun…and a bit messy. At 5:00 that afternoon, you’re invited to Lessons & Carols at the Stone Church, followed by Gregg Shults’ evocative rendition of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. What a magical holiday season! Book-wise, favorite authors return and a new name or two appear. Dark Corners, which may be the last new Ruth Rendell title (she died this past May), should prove to be the thrilling read that all her fans wait for. Debbie Macomber, very popular with our readers, returns in a tandem volume with RaeAnne Thayne — romance reigns! Rick Moody, Kate Morton, Michael Connelly and the large print authors are returning to our shelves. Of particular interest in this chilly climate is Norwegian Wood, not the song, but the variety of methods of stacking and drying wood a la Scandinavian methods. The reviews for MaryLouise Parker’s Dear Mr. You are raves, and Carly Simon’s Boys in Trees promises to be a riveting read. For kids we’ve got educational items — a very colorful new globe (as current as possible) and a variety of new atlases. And, for the heading-to-college set, How to Study in College, a reference to help students make the most of their education. Don’t forget, if you have a request, let us know! An end-of-year THANK YOU to all who help by donating books, funding, time, ideas and talents. (I plan to have more children’s programming in the coming year(s) and help with ideas and implementation would be most welcome.) And, especially, thank you to all who come to the Library to use it, enjoy it, support it, experience it and participate in its life as a community center! -Hattie Grifo Important Phone Numbers Fire/Ambulance (Emergencies Only) Sheriff State Police Ellenville Regional Hospital Ellenville School Closings Ellenville Elementary School Ellenville Middle School Ellenville High School Central Transportation Town of Wawarsing Poison Control Drug/Alcohol Help AIDS Hot Line Cragsmoor Post Office Cragsmoor Free Library Stone Church Information Historical Society Information Sam’s Point Preserve Shortline Bus Metro-North Railroad 911 626-2233 626-2800 647-6400 647-0121 647-0131 647-0126 647-0123 647-2833 647-6570 800-336-6997 794-0761 800-541-AIDS 647-8282 647-4611 647-4716 647-2362 647-7989 800-631-8405 212-532-4900 PO Box 410 Cragsmoor, NY 12420 FRIENDSHIP CALENDAR DECEMBER 2015
