Any NPB, MIC, EVE, PLB, other MCB 140/160 series (Cell Biology/Genetics). There are an array of other courses that also work for Restricted Electives. You may consult with the BMB major adviser If a course you like has BIS 101, 102, 103, or 104 as a pre requisite that course would most likely work as well. Additional upper division laboratory experience is encouraged;however, no more than 3 units of 192(if research), 193 or 199 research may be counted toward restricted elective units. Unrestricted Electives (to complete the 180 overall & 64 upper division units required for graduation) Transfer Students Transfer students who plan to enter UCD as a junior in the Fall Quarter are very strongly advised to complete organic chemistry and as many other of the freshman and sophomore courses listed on p. 2 as possible at their community college. If they do not do well, they should continue on with Chem 2B and 2C. 2 Math 21A requires a knowledge of analytic geometry and a facility for math. Students who do poorly in Math 21A should continue on with the Math 17 series. 3 ' Biochemistry majors are encouraged to start Bio Sci 101 in the Spring Quarter and 102 in the Fall. Transfer students lacking organic chemistry may have to postpone 101 and 102 until the Spring Quarter. (Bio Sci 101, 102, 103 and 104 are taught all three quarters.) 4 MCB 120L can be taken in the Winter Quarter or the Spring Quarter of the third year. 5 Underlined courses are taught only during the quarter indicated. Chem 107A and B can be taken in the third year and other courses adjusted accordingly. 2 Ramadan 20, 1435 MCB COURSES/BIOCHEM MAJOR/2013-14 MAJOR NARRATIVE
