Witness to Innocence to Honor Actor & Humanitarian Danny Glover, Exonerated Death
Row Survivors Tuesday, October 8, in Philadelphia; “Dead Man Walking” author Sister
Helen Prejean to Give Keynote
Philadelphia Tribune Journalist and civil rights activist Linn Washington; the Capital Habeas Unit of Philadelphia;
Exonerated Death Row Survivors Ray Krone and Dave Keaton; and other luminaries to be honored
October 3, 2013, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – This Tuesday, October 8, Witness to Innocence, the nation’s only
organization founded by and for exonerated death row survivors and their loved ones, will hold its 10th Anniversary
Awards Celebration to honor individuals and institutions that have worked tirelessly for criminal justice reform and
human and civil rights in the United States.
David Love, Executive Director of Witness to Innocence said, “We are pleased to have Danny Glover, Sister Helen
Prejean, and other guests join us in celebrating this milestone for Witness to Innocence. For ten years, our exoneree
members have shared their experiences with audiences and lawmakers across the country, and have helped repeal the
death penalty in six states in six years. This awards celebration is a perfect opportunity to reflect on our victories, as we
look ahead to future challenges, including providing federal compensation for the wrongfully incarcerated.”

Kirk Bloodsworth, the first person released from death row by DNA in the U.S. and WTI’s director of advocacy, said, “I
am honored to be part of Witness to Innocence and its 10th Anniversary Celebration. My fellow exonerees Ray Krone and
Dave Keaton are awesome members of this organization and extraordinary human beings, and both deserve recognition
for their support to other death row survivors and their families.”
