Sub: Load Regularisation
Thank you for your continued patronage towards Torrent Power. At Torrent, we strive to provide
uninterrupted and quality power to all our customers. This has been possible due to constant
monitoring and upgrade of our network along with continuous investments in new technology for
enhancing the reliability and safety of power supply.
We have observed that over a period of time, customers add various appliances, devices or
equipment in their premises. In some cases, these appliances would require additional load that may
not have been factored in while estimating the connected load when applying for the new
connection. This results in the connected load being greater than the sanctioned load which would
cause instability in the customer’s network. Further, these additions of appliances without increasing
the sanctioned load lead to overloading of the electricity network which causes
interruptions/breakdowns of supply, which would also impact several other customers on the same
network. Such situations may also lead to safety hazards both in the internal wiring as well in
Torrent’s network.
It is therefore very important that customers apply for the necessary load extension in order to
regularize imbalances in the system. On receiving such applications, we will be able to modify, if
required, the network laid for you based on the actual requirement.
It is also worth mentioning that unauthorized extension of load is an offence under Section 126 of
the Electricity Act 2003. In context of the aforesaid, it is imperative that you obtain sanction for the
total connected load in your premises, irrespective of the time period for which the load is used.
For load regularisation, we request you to follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Please compute your total connected load by aggregating the actual rating of the
apparatus/appliance connected in your premises. An indicative list of standard wattage
ratings for assessing the connected load is annexed herewith for your assistance.
2. In case your connected load is higher than the sanctioned load appearing on your bill, you
are requested to submit the attached application form immediately along with test report
from a licensed electrical contractor and applicable charges.

Note: - Before commencement of supply, you are required to complete wiring installation. You are also
required to submit (if not submitted along with application form) an Installation Test Report from the
