HOFFMAN REACHES A MILESTONE
Senior David Hoffman picked up his 100th career victory at the
Southern Scuffle when he defeated Jason Gribschaw of Maryland, 74, in the first round. The eighth-ranked 141-pounder is a three-time
NCAA qualifier and became just the fourth 100-match winner in
school history. Hoffman, who has a career dual meet record of 47-6,
will have his hands full on Thursday when he takes on secondranked Nate Gallick.
GETTING IT DONE ON AND OFF THE MAT
Senior Mike Faust is succeeding both on and off the mats.
The heavyweight is ranked 15th in the country by Intermat/NWCA
and is 18-6 on the year. The 2005 ACC champ also earned NWCA
2005 All-Academic Team honors, and was also named to ESPN The
Magazine’s Academic All-District III Men’s At-Large Team.
PULLING THE ‘SHIRT OFF
Head coach Tom Brands has decided to take the redshirt off
of freshman Matt Woods this weekend to fill a spot at 197 pounds.
Woods went 3-6 as an unattached wrestler, picking up two pins.
