The programme is particularly suited for those whose work activities involve them in aspects of law such as Garda Síochána, civil servants and those who seek careers as Clerks, Solicitors or Barristers. Certificate in Constitutional and Family Law (Level 8 – 30 ECTS) The main aim of the Certificate in Constitutional and Family Law is to provide learners of all backgrounds the opportunity to explore and develop their interest in Irish Constitutional and Family Law. On successful completion the learner will/should be able to: 1. Demonstrate knowledge of a substantial range of concepts, values, rules and principles of Irish Constitutional and Family Law. 2. Assess and debate the effectiveness of the Separation of powers doctrine in Irish law and able to critically assess and analyse the manner in which the Constitution interacts with both EU and International law. 3. Demonstrate an in-depth and integrated understanding of the manner in which fundamental rights contained in the Irish Constitution have impacted upon and shaped Irish law, and indeed, society. 4. Analyse and apply fundamental principles of common law, statutory law and constitutional law in context of family law. 5. Apply the principles and methods of legal research in these areas. 6. Organise information and illustrate its relevance to its intended audience through the development of oral and written presentation skills. 7. Display skills of analysis, critical judgment, evaluation and literate employment of technical terminology. 8. To continue their legal education with the intellectual and practical skills necessary to do this effectively. The objective to enable them to apply legal concepts and legal reasoning to a range of issues confronted in corporate business.
