Expectations:
Students are expected to do all required reading and projects.
Students are expected to conduct themselves maturely in order to have a typical
college-level course.
Students are expected to respect everyone in the room.
Students are expected to follow directions on given projects or independent work.
Students are expected to be quiet when given time for independent work as well.
Students will be held to a higher standard in order to accomplish the goals of
Advanced Literature.
Quizzes over reading and literary terms will depend on classroom dedication.
There will be an essay test and a group project for every novel or play covered in
this course. Two literary critiques will also be assigned throughout the year.
There is a no tolerance policy for plagiarism.
A folder is needed to keep terms and handouts organized.
Students’ background reading: Romeo and Juliette, Scarlet Letter, Great Gatsby,
Huckleberry Finn, Great Expectations, Marley and Me, and Of Mice and Men.
Classroom Rules and Procedures
Mrs. Haag
1. Students must be in the room by the sound of the bell. Three
tardies equals one detention and so forth…
2. No food or drink will be allowed in the regular classroom.
(exception-special occasion) However, water is allowed.
3. No compact musical devices are allowed in the classroom. Cellular
phones are not allowed as well.
4. Everyone will remain in his or her chairs until the bell rings.
5. No swearing or disrespect allowed in this classroom.
6. Each student must bring a writing utensil, notebook, a computer,
and specific classroom books to class.
7. Each student, teacher, or substitute will be given the proper
respect in class.
8. To obtain the proper environment, directions must be followed so
that all students may work to their potential without distractions.
Appropriate use of the computer is expected at all times.
9. Work must be turned in on the day in which it is due.
Assignments will be deducted by 50 percent if they are late.
10.Work must be as neat as possible.
11. Independent work must be done independently.
12.A ninety minute class period will consist of the following:

 Activity to reinforce material(notes or book)
 Discussion
 Activity-project
 Assignment given
