Frontline Viewing Assignment
For each of the third and fourth quarters, you will need to watch an episode from the PBS awardwinning program Frontline (or possibly from NOVA). You will need to go to their website
(PBS.org), and watch the episode online. There may be some times where the link does not work,
but try again. Most episodes are about 54 minutes in length. If Internet access at home is an issue,
you could go to the Library and watch it over a couple of days. If you need more help with
completing this assignment, please don’t wait until the last minute, but come and talk with me.
• Find an episode that fits in with any of the topics of the current quarter. Listed on the other side are
online episodes that are relevant to this semester’s units (as of 12/17/15).
• Watch the program and take some notes on the content. Make sure you have information from
throughout the whole episode.
• Write a review, using this format:

(20 pts) Give a one page summary of the program.

(20 pts) After the summary, explain at least two things from the show that could and
should be shared with the whole class. In other words, what new research/ideas did you
learn about from this episode?

(10 pts) Conclude with a paragraph about any other things from the show that relate to
things we have already studied last semester in this class.
• For extra credit, you may then go to the companion website and spend some time exploring. Print
out any page(s) that you found exceptionally informative and helpful. Write a short explanation of
some of the things that you learned from the website.
• You may repeat this assignment for a different Frontline show for extra credit. You may not do
more than one extra credit review per quarter, though.
