Collaborated in the development and execution of web content and web projects in an efficient and timely manner. Additional duties also demanded written articles and photographic material for the newspaper's main print edition and for a weekly community themed publication of that enterprise. Assignments included breaking news, public service and community announcements, and feature articles. May 2007 – May 2009 Contributor, Student Publications, University of Texas at El Paso Gathered news material on both sides of the US/Mexico border for feature and investigative oriented articles published in Minero Magazine, a quarterly magazine. Additionally, provided video and text content for Borderzine, the online magazine of the university's communication department. On a contingency basis provided articles and photographic material dealing with immigration issues for the student newspaper The Prospector. Jun 2008 – Aug 2008 Reporter/Photojournalist Internship, Al Día Full-time paid internship awarded by the Department of Communication of the University of Texas at El Paso. Wrote over 60 news articles and feature stories, and photographed events and people for two versions of the Spanish language weekly, one version for the Philadelphia metropolitan area, and the other for the Southern New Jersey area. Assignments included story enterprising, foreclosure issues, the police and city hall beat, immigration, education, entertainment and culture. May 2005 – May 2007 Stringer, Agence France Press Reported, photographed and kept the news agency informed about the proceedings and final outcome of the immigration trial and federal appeal process of ex-CIA operative Luis Posada Carriles. Mar 2005 – June 2006 Advertorial Coordinator, El Paso Times Wrote content, shot and gathered photographic material to promote commercial and civic organizations in special sections of the newspaper, to a lesser degree, collaborated in the layout of these pages. Additional duties included writing content for the real estate and auto section of the daily and weekend editions of the newspaper. Jan 2005 – Mar 2005 Staff Writer/Photographer Internship, El Paso Times Part-time internship sponsored by El Paso Community College. Wrote articles about events and people for the Eastside Reporter, a weekly publication of the El Paso Times. Additional duties included the translation of headlines, sidebars, and photo cutline’s for use in El Paso y Más, the weekly recap in Spanish of the daily edition of the El Paso Times. Sep 2004 – June 2005 Editor/Reporter/Photographer, Student Publications, El Paso Community College Responsible for selecting and assigning stories for the student newspaper the El Conquistador (now The Tejano Tribune). Additionally, proposed, developed and implemented a Spanish section for this publication during two semesters as the editor. As a reporter, wrote several investigative stories and provided photographic material when needed.
