 Developed and wrote the Nursing Informatics Strategy.
 Developed chart audit tools (general and focused) to review nursing and allied health
documentation practices throughout UHN in order to identify practice and quality issues.
 Created the NI Analyst Interview Tool, and organized the orientation of Nursing
Informatics staff and students.

 Lead (NI) and go-live clinical support for the implementation of electronic Medication
Order Entry/electronic MAR project for neurology/orthopaedic units.

Facilitate interdisciplinary expert clinician focus groups in the development of
documentation content including nine RNAO Best Practice Guidelines groups, four
corporate initiative groups (e.g. Blood Transfusion Safety, Infection Control) systems
assessments working group, and admission assessment working group.
Coordinate and implement the change in clinical documentation from a narrative to a
structured note model.
Promote the improvement of clinical practice through the development of documentation
tools that guide and capture patient centered care and the patient perspective.
Organize and chair interdisciplinary practice working committees.
Innovate the planning, development and staff education of corporate and program
Interdisciplinary Patient Care Standards and Focus Charting, the Picker Model of Patient
Centered Care and RNAO Best Practice Guidelines.
Monitor and review database design and abstraction of data from charts.
Monitor and analyze data, compile reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
Coordinate the development and design of interdisciplinary electronic documentation.
Identify, create and maintain project documentation for the electronic documentation
projects including project plans, project charters, budgets, PowerPoint presentations, risk
benefits analyses, communication plans, status reports, and training and education
plans.
Monitor and ensure projects remain within scope and meet timelines.
Supervise and delegate responsibilities to NI Analysts in order to meet project
requirements.
Advise Director of Nursing Informatics regarding selection of documentation
methodology (i.e. exception/standard based charting), standardized nursing language
and SNOMED.
Collaborate with health care providers in the development and revision of clinical practice
policies to reflect professional practice standards in accordance with organizational,
legislation and regulatory standards.
Identify clinician and patient needs through the use of questionnaires, observational
workflow analysis, patient flow analysis, information flow analysis and user focus groups.
Review screens for usability, content requirements, accuracy, and patient safety impact.
Advise on revision and development of paper documentation tools.
Familiar with UHN Trainer Software Authoring Tool for its Learning Management System.
Supervisor and preceptor to graduate and baccalaureate students.
Provide guidance and advice to nurses as a UHN Career Coach.

 Organized and coordinated the renovation of the units from 54 beds to 63 beds.
 Planned, coordinated, and implemented the amalgamation of a 15 bed Level II Nursery
from another hospital to MSH Level II Nursery.
 Prepared the monthly Master Schedules for 140 registered nurses, 15 ward clerks and
service assistance.
 Developed and maintained the unit budget ($10 million) while maintaining the Hospital
fiscal requirements for the program.

 Lead, planned and administered Nursing Services in a 63 bed neonatal ICU/Level II
Nursery.
 Promoted professional standards, professional nursing practice, quality of patient care,
education of staff and students, and research
 Provided Human Resource Management and Performance Management for registered
nurses, ward clerks and service assistance.
 Identified risk management issues and developed means to achieve resolution Promoted
