Curriculum Program Review Committee
Review of Technical Programs
Statement of Purpose
In support of the mission of Wake Technical Community College to “help improve and enrich lives by
meeting the lifelong education, training, and service needs of its diverse community,” the Curriculum
Program Review Committee (CPRC), in accordance with North Carolina Administrative Code Title 23, will
oversee the systematic review of curriculum disciplines and programs to ensure quality improvement.
The CPRC is also engaged in the process of documenting program effectiveness in accordance with SACS
standards.
Timeline
Wake Tech will conduct program reviews on a rotating five-year cycle. A sufficient number of programs
will be reviewed annually to ensure that every curriculum program is reviewed a minimum of every five
years. A calendar will be developed and updated annually indicating programs to be reviewed by year.
A program will automatically be reviewed in any and every year that the program enrollment drops
below 10 students.
As feasible, programs will be reviewed the academic year prior to their re-accreditation by external
agencies. An effort will be made to balance the reviews among the AA, AS and AAS, certificate and
diploma programs.
The Process of Program Review
All curriculum programs at the college will be electronically monitored each semester/term and year.
Each Curriculum Education Service (CES) area Academic Dean will receive a series of electronic CPRC
Data Reports containing the following information:




Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Report for each semester/term for a minimum of the last five years.
Enrollment data for each curriculum program by Primary Academic Program for each
semester/term since fall semester 2006 or for a minimum of at least five years. Students may
have more than one major but should have only one Primary Academic Program major on the
date these reports are generated. This data will give the most accurate enrollment information
containing an unduplicated head count for each program.
Graduate data for each curriculum program for each year for a minimum of the last five years.
Grade Distribution Report
The CPRC Data Reports are used as indicators to inform the Academic Dean about growth or declines
taking place in the curriculum programs within the division. Additional information such as Student
Recruitment; Grant Development; New Employers in the county; New Co-Op Opportunities; New
Equipment/Software; Special Industry Justification for this curriculum program and other benefits this
program brings to the county which are not noted in the electronically generated reports. The Academic
Dean will forward all data collected to the Instructor/Department Head of the Curriculum Program
which is to be reviewed. Here are the steps to be followed from that time:
Form 1237 R-1 (11-1-11) LW
[Type text]

data and additional information (student recruitment; grant development; new employers in the

these reports to the CPRC. Academic Deans may return to the Instructor/Department Head for
additional information.
