Grants
SUNY Information Literacy Immersion Program campus grant project July 31-August 5, 1999
submitted to NYS/UUP joint labor management committee
The grant provided $37,500.00 in funding to sponsor an intensive 4.5 day workshop
covering all pedagogical aspects of bringing information literacy into the curriculum
directed by faculty from the national Association of College and Research Libraries
(ACRL). The cost of the workshop per participant was $995.00. The grant sponsored
UUP unit members for $750.00 of the cost. 33 librarians from SUNY institutions and 16
librarians from other institutions nationally participated in the SUNY Information
Literacy immersion program. The grant and all campus arrangements were cocoordinated by myself and fellow Feinberg Librarian Holly Heller-Ross.

1996. Participants were instructed in advanced features of the Pine E-Mail program and
coordinating use of Pine with World Wide Web information retrieval.
"Doing Business on the Internet". Workshop coordinated by the Technical Assistance Center at
SUNY-Plattsburgh as part of the "Electronic Frontiers: International Business Training in
the Age of the Internet" , September 18-19, 1996. The workshop (with Michael Miranda
and Dennis Kimmage) covered all aspects of Internet use from academic use of Internet
listservs to strategies for integration of the World Wide Web into the classroom.
Organization the implementation and management of the SUNYLA world wide web page with
the SUNYLA Automation Committee, 1996-98.
"Internet 201 for School Library Staff: Using Northnet". Morning workshop coordinated with
the CEWW School Library System and the North Country Teacher Resource Center,
October 10, 1995. Participants were instructed in the use of the Pine E-Mail program,
Northnet menu commands, LYNX web browser, Internet search engines, and the Wilson
indexes.
"Advanced Internet Training". All day workshops coordinated with the North Country
Reference and Research Resources Council, May 22 and May 23, 1995. Participants
were instructed in the use of the UNIX platform, FTP (file transfer protocol), and the
Netscape World Wide Web Internet browser.
"Internet Resources for Accountants workshop". (with Mike Miranda) Developed in conjunction
with the Computer Support Center and the Technical Assistance Center, October 1994.
Wrote Vax DCL program to select and facilitate use of Internet accounting resources
utilizing the LYNX protocol
