Assistant Professor, Mathematics Education
The Department of Teaching and Learning is seeking a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track
Assistant Professor in mathematics education. We seek candidates invested in the
improvement of mathematics learning and teaching in middle and secondary education.
Preference is given to candidates whose research programs investigate mathematics
teacher education; mathematics education in urban schools; innovative digital pedagogies
for mathematics learning and teaching; discipline focused learning processes; problem
solving; assessment; learning progressions; or best practices in mathematics instruction.
The Department of Teaching and Learning values collaborative scholarship among
colleagues, and we seek a mathematics education faculty member who will collaborate with
colleagues in in the department and across the university, in the Arts and Sciences. Duties
include: research, teaching, and service; collaborating with colleagues to expand world class
scholarship agendas and extramural support for research and scholarly activities; building
collaborative linkages to middle and secondary schools; attracting and nurturing
outstanding students from around the world; supporting efforts to promote mathematics
literacy through innovative digital and technology-enhanced pedagogies; and other duties
as assigned.
Requirements include an earned doctorate in mathematics education, with a strong
background in mathematics; evidence of high productivity or potential for high productivity
in scholarship and grants funding; and successful university teaching. Experience teaching
mathematics in grades 7-12 is required.

philosophy, and three representative scholarly works.
