Announced Phil Petty is retiring July 1, 2007.
GVTC has completed reorganization.
Reorganization of Technical Division in
progress. Instructional Support
reorganization involves having a Coordinator
and Specialists. Public Health and
Safety/Nursing will consist of PN and RN
programs, Criminal Justice, EMT, Paramedic,
Fire Science
Allied Health will include all other programs
related to health care.
With reorganization described above there
will be more emphasis on customer support,
less regulation and fewer mandates. Jobs will
be consolidated at the state level.
-New program request process will change.
It will be an e-process that will decrease the
time it will take to approve a new program.
Access to documents will be through the
internet.
-Process will change for program revision.
Time frame for making a change will be cut
to 8 months and may be decreased more.
-PN Program Standard Revision is scheduled
for 2009. The process for revision is the
same at this point.
-If changes in the Standards are proposed:
 Change must be proposed by the
advisory committee.
 Documented in the advisory minutes
 Discussed at the Regional
Consortium meeting
 Discussed by the PN Executive Board
composed of all Regional Chairs
 Forwarded to DTAE
-Criminal Background Checks – DTAE
Office of Legal Services to develop a policy.
Hospital Corp of America Standard is Level

criminal background check. Level 2 will be
for instructors and will consist of basic
criminal background check, licensure and
credential check.
Colleges will not handle any part of the
criminal background check. It will be
between the clinical site and the student.
There is liability related to storing any
information related to criminal background.
There are 2 web-based services. Pre-Check is
one and can send results of check to several
clinical sites.
The Hospital Association is recommending
criminal background checks of their member
facilities.
Policy from DTAE will include information
about handling students who can not be
placed in clinical sites due to criminal
background.

Public Meeting – Held in May, posted on
Secretary of State Website. Other means of
communicating state meeting will be
investigated.
Site Visits – Are being scheduled.
Monthly reports of NCLEX-PN score being
mailed – 92% is the Statewide Pass Rate

ACTION
Comprehensive assessment driven review.
For each area, includes books, DVDs, 2
practice assessments and a proctored test.
ATI will align curriculum with the testing.
Recommend that ATI test be part of course
grade. Cut scores are given. Level 1 – low
chance of success on NCLEX-PN, Level 2 –
fairly certain chance of success on NCLEXPN, and Level 3 – Very likely to succeed on
NCLEX-PN. Students have user name and
password for testing. Testing can be on
computer or paper and pencil. One minute is
allowed per question. PN Predictor for
passing the NCLEX-PN is given at the end of
the program. There are two versions of the
predictor.
TEAS – Test of Essential Academic Skills is
the ATI admissions test.

Descriptions
DISCUSSION
Virtual ATI – On-line NCLEX-PN review.
Student is paired one-on-one with instructor.
Skills Modules – will eventually be 40 skills
with streaming video.
Partnered with colleges and universities
across nation as part of distance learning.
Test out of pre-requisite courses,
comprehensive learning modules developed
by subject matter experts, academic support
and tutoring provided. Solid instructional
design for the adult learner. Core courses are
taken through the college or university. LPN
– BSN – partnered with Indiana University,
RN – MSN – partnered with Regis
University.

The IFCC Executive Board must meet
annually – This could be at the annual
meeting of all IFCC Executive Chairpersons
at end of October each year.
-Consortium-Level Chairpersons must meet
twice annually with colleges in their
consortia – one of these meetings can be after
the PN State-wide meeting on one of the
state-wide meeting dates. The other meeting
date will have to be arranged with the
colleges in each local consortia.
Course descriptions will be reworded to make
them more concise.
AHS 103 – Diet and
Nutrition
Increase hours from 2 credit hours to 3 credit
hours.
Integrate Pediatric
Disorders into MedSurg
Hours in Peds theory would have to decrease
and hours for Med-Surg theory would
increase. Peds theory (NSG 212) would
change to just assessment and growth and
development. Clinical would remain in final
qtr. along with revised peds theory.
