NATIONAL BROKERS LIMITED www.nationalbrokersltd.com Tea Auctioneers since 1948 TEA MARKET REPORT - Sale 27 Held on Tuesday 17th November, 2015 CTC LEAF: 31,407 packages and 55 packages of Old Season teas on offer met with a strong demand at dearer rates. BROKENS: Good Brokens met with a stronger demand and were dearer often by Tk.3/- to Tk.5/-. These could be quoted between Tk.192/- and Tk.197/-. Other varieties were also slightly dearer. However, there was some withdrawals in the plainest category. FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings were a strong market and were dearer often by Tk.2/- to Tk/3/-. Prices for these ranged between Tk.192/- and Tk.194/-. Medium types were generally firm whilst plainer varieties were neglected with fair withdrawals. CTC DUST: 5,619 packages and 30 packages of Old Season teas on offer once again met with a fairly strong demand. Select few lines of good liquoring varieties were fully firm to slightly dearer following competition. All others mostly sold around last levels. Brokens Large Medium Small Plain This Week Last Week 185-188 187-192 190-194 165-175 183-185 186-189 188-191 165-175 CDs however, were again an easier market with some withdrawals. Blenders lent fairly strong support with fair interest from the Loose tea buyers. COMMENTS: Blenders operated in greater strength for bright liquoring types. As a result, prices for these moved up in Sellers’ favour. Loose Tea buyers lent a fair support. It was noticeable that plain varieties were discriminated against and recorded a decline in price with fair withdrawals. Once again good liquoring Dusts were a strong feature of the sale. KOLKATA SALE 45 DATED 9TH /13TH NOVEMBER, 2015 There was good. This being a small sale, there was a lower quantity of good and best liquoring Assams on offer. Assams sold at steady to firm rates with brighter and clean, well-made descriptions at times dearer. Good as well as clean, well-made, medium Dooars were firm. The remainder, including teas in the plainer and BLF categories, were irregular around last. M/s Tata Global Beverages was active in the leaf market on a cross-section of Assams. In the Dust market, they operated with strength on brighter liquoring descriptions. M/s Hindustan Unilever operated on a cross section of Assams and extended useful support on plainer Dooars in the leaf market. They operated with strength on brighter liquoring descriptions in the Dust market. The Western India buyers were active on Assams in both markets. Exporters were active on larger Brokens and Fannings. Regional packeteers and other Blenders operated on medium and plainer Dooars. The local traders were active on the Dooars and other clean, well-made teas. Best BP1s available were steady to USC2 dearer while brighter categories were discounted by USC14 to USC35 and a few lines unsold with mediums USC16 to USC46 below last rates. Lower mediums eased by USC10 to USC24 with plainer descriptions barely firm to USC16 below last prices. The best PF1s in the market were upto USC32 easier with brighter types USC18 to USC34 below last levels and invoices remained unsold while mediums opened firm to USC22 easier but thereafter advanced by upto USC20. Lower mediums lost USC6 to USC20 while plainer sorts were irregular varying between USC10 dearer to easier by USC2 to USC20. In the secondary catalogues BPs appreciated while PFs were easier. Clean well sorted coloury FNGS were irregular with coloury types dearer with similar DUSTs dearer. Other Fannings were discounted while DUSTs were irregular. BMFs were well absorbed. Pakistan Packers, Yemen and other Middle Eastern countries were dominant while Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan and other CIS states lent useful support. Sudan, Bazaar and Egyptian Packers were active with some interest from UK but was selective on quality. There were some enquiries from Iran. Somalia continued active at the lower end of the market.
