IFRS CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME
Introduction
The recent announcement by Nigeria of its adoption of IFRS from January 1, 2012
has brought to the fore the need for the Institute to build capacity and enhance
the technical skills of its members who will function within the evolving principlebased financial reporting framework. Accordingly, the Corporate Finance
Management Faculty has developed a comprehensive, integrated certification
programme to give members the information needed to navigate complex issues in
financial reporting.
What is IFRS Certification programme all about?
The IFRS Certification Training Programme is designed to equip all Chartered
Accountants who either have governance responsibilities or are involved in the
financial reporting chain irrespective of the sector of the economy in which they
function.
Objective of the Certification programme
The certification training programme will equip participants:







To provide leadership for IFRS conversion in their organisations
To put theory into practice with sufficient case studies
To carry out accounting and tax impact assessment of IFRS
To handle the people, system and business implications of IFRS adoption
To provide solutions to issues and challenges they may face while converting to
IFRS.
To understand the principles of all the IASs/IFRS issued to date by IASB
With understanding of the roles of all parties in the financial reporting chain in the
conversion to IFRS
Type of certificate to be awarded
Upon successful completion of the two module programme, candidates would sit for a
qualifying examination that will lead to the award of a Certificate of Proficiency in
IFRS by council.
Who can attend?
Chartered Accountants operating in all sectors of the economy
Duration of the Programme
The programme is divided into two modules.
Module one will run for three days while module two will run for four days
