Con la realización de un Convenio de Colaboración AMECYD-Walden University, se contribuirá a la capacitación de profesionistas de sus afiliadas, en el área de educación a distancia; se organizarán eventos conjuntos y se obtendrán becas en colegiaturas para los miembros que sean aceptados en programas en línea, de Walden University. WALDEN UNIVERSITY –AMECYD SCHOLARSHIP In celebration of the partnership between Walden University and AMECYD we are pleased to announce the creation of the Walden-AMECYD Scholarship Program to recognize exceptional individuals who are seeking to make a difference in their profession and communities. This scholarship program awards ONE(1) 50% scholarship, in one of the following programs, to ONE (1) AMECYD member. PROGRAMS Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Instructional Design and Technology Specializations General Program Online Learning Training and Performance Improvement Graduate Certificate in Advanced Project Management Graduate Certificate in Applied Project Management Education Certificates SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY Recipients of the Walden-AMECYD Scholarship must: Be a member of the AMECYD at the time of application and acceptance of the scholarship. Must be an international candidate not already enrolled in a Walden University program. Be fully admitted into one of the aforementioned Certificate programs for which he/she will apply, with the university in receipt of all official documentation for the applicant for the program’s respective start date of May 18, 2012. Have completed a bachelor’s degree. Complete the TOEFL with passing score (if English is not native language or applicant does not meet Walden’s English proficiency requirement). SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA Applicants must: 1. APPLY to Walden University via the online form at http://global.waldenu.edu/?source_code=AMECYD&source_campaign_id=2527 2. Complete the self-nomination form. 3. Submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words or one page describing how the intended program will help the applicant reach personal goals and effect positive social change 4. Submit a current copy of their résumé or CV. 5. Submit a formal letter of professional recommendation that addresses the suitability of the candidate for the scholarship, nature of the relationship with the candidate, and length of time of the relationship. 6. Email the nomination form, essay, résumé and letter of recommendation to CIP@waldenu.edu by Friday, May 18, 2012 for the program’s respective start date of June 25, 2012. All required information must be provided in order for a nomination to be considered. Applicants may be contacted by phone to confirm the authenticity of information submitted. Scholarship Selection Process A scholarship committee comprising faculty and staff of Walden University will review the nominations and select the semifinalists. The semifinalist nominations will be presented to Walden University’s Center for International Programs, which will choose the final award recipient. Scholarship Announcements and Publicity Individuals who receive an AMECYD Scholarship must affirm that they are willing and able to participate in all publicity efforts promoting the program. Such publicity may include news releases and media advisories, local and national media coverage, media interviews and photos, and other similar public relations activities. Individuals who participate must sign a release that allows Walden University to use the individual’s participation in the program for publicity purposes without limitation and states that all such materials remain the sole and exclusive property of Walden University. Scholarship Funding This award will be disbursed beginning in the student’s first term after being awarded the scholarship and remaining funds will be applied towards the following term(s) until all funds have been used. The 50% scholarship will be disbursed evenly each term, reducing the tuition cost by 50% each term, for the life of the program. At any given time, if a scholarship disbursement exceeds the cost of tuition, funds will be disbursed in the amount of the tuition cost. The student will not receive cash if the award amount exceeds their cost of tuition. Students who withdraw from the program or university or change to another degree program not eligible for this scholarship will forfeit the scholarship. Should the scholarship be forfeited, students need not reimburse Walden. In order for scholarship funding to continue throughout the length of the program, recipients must meet the satisfactory academic progress criteria set forth by Walden University’s current catalog for the duration of their program. The cost of books and course materials are included in the tuition for the approved Walden’s programs for this scholarship. All recipients who enroll in a Walden program are responsible for the technology fee each term as well. Recipients are responsible for all other non-tuition costs including but not limited to residency travel and other university or program fees as applicable. Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, color, sex, age, religion or creed, marital status, disability, national or ethnic origin, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, or other legally protected status. This scholarship is not managed by Walden University’s Office of Financial Aid.
