The Odyssey Notes Organizer Next week we will finish The Odyssey and you will have an in-class essay to write. For the essay, you will have a choice of topics and will write one essay, four to sixth paragraphs in length. You will have the entire period to work and will use your book and notes. Your essay should have an introduction with a clear thesis, several body paragraphs explaining your thesis, and a conclusion in which you explain why your thesis is important. You will be expected to either quote from The Odyssey or use specific examples to support your argument. This essay is a first draft and will have mistakes in it, especially spelling and grammar errors. You will be graded mainly on your ideas and your argument. To help you prepare, I created this handout. Spend some time in class today and, preferably, on your own, to fill in important notes, observations, and page numbers. You will use this to help you write your essay. Topic Odysseus’ journey Successes he has on his journey. Obstacles he faces on his journey. Books, lines or page numbers where this appears.
