As leader and songwriter of Glasgow's Deacon Blue,
Ricky Ross enjoyed huge success in the late 80s and

An Evening With Blowers
Henry Blofeld made his name as a cricket commentator
with Test Match Special and is one of the most
recognisable voices in cricket. A brilliant storyteller and
raconteur, the show sees Blowers talking through his life
and illustrating it with amusing stories about the people he
has come across along the way. His stories include some
of the great characters he has met, including Ian Fleming
(who appropriated his name for his arch villain, Ernst
Blofeld, in the James Bond series), Noel Coward (with
whom he dined in Jamaica), The Queen, Clive Dunn,

Esther Miller Quintet
Esther Miller is a jazz singer of the classic school,
possessing an outstanding technique, sensitive

Sharon Shannon
Hailing from County Clare, Sharon Shannon released her
first solo recording in 1989, featuring household names
such as Donal Lunny, The Waterboys frontman Mike Scott
and U2’s Adam Clayton. Her groundbreaking album, The
Diamond Mountain Sessions, released in 2000 took her
in a very different direction. Her own accordion and fiddle
playing was as full of virtuosity as ever but this time she
was accompanied by stirring vocal performances from the

Adult Workshops
Have you ever thought about taking up the harmonica, or
are you keen to develop your existing skills? Join
harmonica tutors Con O’Neill and Joff Watkins for a
choice of one-day sessions. The beginners’ workshop will
cover the basics of tune-playing, chord-playing and blues
improvisation and is suitable for absolute beginners. The
improvers’ workshop is aimed at intermediate players
wishing to move forward with other ideas for improvisation,
technique and filling in the blanks with musical theory.
Both sessions are suitable for those aged 15+.

The Neil Cowley Trio
The Neil Cowley Trio is a jazz act with a unique voice –

Jazz Stage – Richie Barshay’s Roundtable Quintet
The Roundtable is a collaboration between some of the
jazz world’s exiting emerging stars from both London and
New York. The quintet features the much sought-after and
versatile bassist Michael Janisch alongside multiinstrumentalist Jim Hart on vibraphones. The featured
artist of the quintet is one of the most prominent musical
voices on drumset and percussion in the world today –
Richie Barshay – who currently plays with the legendary
Herbie Hancock in his quartet. Rounding out the table is
two of Richie’s regular sparring partners from New York,
multi-award winning saxophonists and composers Daniel
Blake and Petr Cancura. Together they present a blend
of contemporary jazz meets world music, drawing strongly
from their knowledge of the jazz, Afro-Latin and Indian

Gilbert O’Sullivan
Performing old classics as well as songs from his new
album A Scruff At Heart, Gilbert O’Sullivan’s lyrics are as

Angels Choir
Twenty children from the Angels Choir in Kaduna, Nigeria
will come to the UK this year for an experience of a life
time, singing in concerts designed to show the audience
their culture and youthful enthusiasm. The Angels Choir
was founded by Father Anthony Ikhenoba from the
Diocese of Kaduna and was launched in the UK on World
Aids Day 2006. The children of the choir all come from a
small village in West Africa. Here the local people struggle
daily to survive with limited food and fresh water. Father
Anthony recognised that the children had a talent – their
voices – resulting in songs worthy of the highest
accolades. His aim is to restore hope into the lives of the
children by giving them the chance to help their
community through the gift of music. The children sing
from their hearts with incredible passion, wholeheartedly
committed to doing whatever they can to help improve the
conditions in which they, their families and friends live.
The show will include performances of African dance and
a cappella singing, accompanied by local African drums.

Tony Hadley
Turning the page on his time as lead singer with Spandau
Ballet, Tony Hadley has continued to write, record and
perform as a solo artist. 2007 has been as busy year for

musical Chicago. Following the success of his 2006 swing
album, Passing Strangers, and the accompanying

Davy Graham

Davy Graham picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and
has based his life around a total mastery of the instrument
ever since. Davey mixed folk, blues, jazz, Middle Eastern
sounds and Indian ragas, to create a strong legacy as one
of the most eclectic guitarists from the English folk scene
and he is credited with sparking the folk-rock revolution in
the UK in the 1960s. He is a virtuoso guitarist who has
influenced many of the famous practitioners of the fingerstyle acoustic guitar, such as Bert Jansch, John
Renbourn, Martin Carthy, Paul Simon and even Jimmy
Page.

Mary Coughlan
Irish jazz and blues singer Mary Coughlan released her
critically acclaimed first album Tired & Emotional in 1985
and has been producing albums ever since. Born in
County Galway, the singer's troubled upbringing
manifested itself in an erratic career path, including stints
as a model and a street-sweeper. In 2000 Mary presented
a series of multimedia shows in Dublin celebrating Billie
Holiday, a singer whose life story has close parallels to
Coughlan's own.

Abram Wilson & The Delta Blues Project
Ride!
The incredible trumpeter and vocalist Abram Wilson was
born in Arkansas and raised in Louisiana, where he
attended the famed New Orleans Center for the
Performing Arts, like Wynton Marsalis and Harry Connick
Jr before him. Ride!, commissioned by Cheltenham Jazz
Festival under the Jerwood Rising Stars Programme, tells
the story of a young man’s journey from his hometown in
the Delta to the thrills of the big city, with Abram Wilson’s
explosive 10-strong orchestra featuring three bands in one
(Abram Wilson Sextet, Delta Blues Trio and Londorleans
Brass Band), playing everything from brass-band jazz and
delta blues to acoustic hip-hop. The show also features a
pre-recorded prologue by the rhythm and blues giant Dr

Cellist Bartholomew LaFollette was a pupil at the Yehudi
Menuhin School. In 2003 he won a scholarship to the
Guildhall School of Music & Drama where he is continuing
his studies. During his studies Bartholomew has won
numerous prizes including the Guilhermina Suggia Gift
and a Jellinek Award which led to performances of
Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme with
orchestras throughout Europe and the USA. As a recitalist
and chamber musician Bartholomew has appeared at
major venues throughout the UK including Wigmore Hall,
Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Bridgewater
Hall, and Fairfield Halls Croydon. In conjunction with the

Gregg Kofi Brown
Long-time member of pioneering world music band
Osibisa, Gregg Kofi Brown returns with his blend of
African rhythms, jazz spirit and Brit-funk. His current solo

perform his own music as well as hits from his days with
Osibisa such as Woyaya, Welcome Home, Fire and

The Geoff Gascoyne Project
Featuring Jamie Cullum, Trudy Kerr & The Juno String
Quartet
Presenting music from his Candid Records CD Keep It To
Yourself, bass player Geoff Gascoyne has created a
large ensemble which features a core trio that have been
playing together for over five years. Geoff is joined by
Sebastiaan de Krom on drums and Jamie Cullum (in a
rare sideman role) on vocals and piano. The trio are joined
by Martin Shaw on trumpet, with Tim Garland on
saxophone and the Juno String Quartet Quartet. The
band will play Geoff's original compositions and choice
standards, plus Jamie will sing with the strings, the trio
and ensemble. There will also be a guest appearance by
Australian singer Trudy Kerr.
