FEBRUARY 2015 South Middle School 232 Peach Street Braintree, MA 02184 781-380-0160 FAX 781-380-0164 ABSENCE LINE 781-356-0657 www.gpvillage.com/southms The Season to Endure There is a chance, with a house full of children that one wishes to slow the process a bit by wishing for a good New England snowstorm. The peaceful vista brings us the illusion of a quieter time. The kids need the joy of snow banks. It clears the air. Another joy of the season is those who surround you. There really is something about hunkering down together. There really is a fortunate feel when we nourish the dream of family and kin. But then, this exhilaration of winter is so short lived. When did the quiet of the home turn to the bickering of too much togetherness? When did your teenagers actually give you up for the need to be with their friends? Why did you create this storm for their inconvenience? When did moving about the house become a performing art? This temporary frustration shall pass. Remember it’s not the intensity, it’s the duration. But then again, it is the intensity when you are in it. March, however, will ask you “when will winter ever end? Every February’s concern becomes a memory on a warm June day. Enjoy what you can, endure what you can’t. It IS surprising that sports titles are in demand, but none cracked the top dozen this year. Special thanks to the book fair parent volunteers— Nancy Corierri, Bouthayna Mouline, and Laura Burton, as well as student volunteers.
